  6. I have a Staples Singers album like this somewhere. I have never actually played it since I bought it for $1 about 2 years ago! I had assumed it was Japanese but have never really looked at it.
  7. Spent a couple of hours today going through 1000's of 45's in a Flea Market. There were loads of Nashville labels and judging by the titles they were all Country but it dawned on me that I couldnt be 100% sure and as there was no listening post I wasnt going to take a risk even though they were only $1 each. Are there any known Nashville Soul labels or anything that came out on Nashville labels? One I did buy was Sylvia Robinson - Oo Wee Baby - Tru-glo-town promo - any value? Oh, and I know this isnt a Nashville label as it says NJ on it!!
  8. I think you will find that this is ebay blocking the ID's of the other bidders? You can only see your ID. Been like this for some months now?
  9. I like the fact that the Canadian record sellers dont know what Northern Soul is, and you would be amazed at how many sellers, in this day and age, have absolutely no idea what is out there, what thye have or what it sells for.
  10. Found these links in a thread about a Soul Nite in Paris back in April. I assume future events will be advertised on there www.myspace.com/sausagedom www.myspace.com/elsuperfreak www.sausage-records.com
  11. Actually left a copy of the Nick Palmer behind in a store on Canadian RCA a week or so ago. I suppose I will have to go back and see if it is still there now!!
  12. On the subject of the Ric Tic, Golden World CD's - I was told that the licensing laws in Thailand were different and so they are technically not bootlegs? Any comments or am I just being naive? They have now produced a load more - Guys of Golden World, Girls of Golden World, Ric Tic Volume 2, a Cameo Parkway and a couple of others. Always available at the Toronto Record Shows and in a certain store on Queen Street, Toronto. I have to be honest and say I have bought the 2 Ric Tic ones so far.
  13. My missus, bless her, still thinks the Northern scene ended when Wigan/Yate did. She still walks past my record room when I am playing 45's and looks at me and says "did they play this at Stafford?", shrugs her shoulders, says "why dont you play some Northern" and walks away.

  15. I was there in February, and as per the Cleveland post, was travelling with non-vinyl types. I wish I could find me some like minded Souls in the Toronto area to play with. I gave Richie Rosen a miss as it seemed like a waste of time according to all the posts on here but I did get to Record City, they have 3 stores in the town. The Sahara Ave store doesnt open on Sundays and has, apparently, all the rarities, guess which day I turned up!! The East Charleston Boulevard store has 1000's of 45's and I managed to turn up a couple of nice 80's 45's and a handful on Northern Oldies - I like to be able to but something where ever I go. Worth a visit if you have a couple of hours to spare but to be honest dont expect a great return on your time. If you get a chance do the Grand Canyon Helicopter trip - Fooking brilliant.
  16. Hodad's had 5 or 6 boxes of Soul 45's but they were a mixed bunch and I got a couple of nice Barbara Lynn Atlantic promo's from there and a couple of other things. They didnt have a lot but as I was in the area. My Mind's Eye had lots of boxes but condition was a bit iffy. There was also about 10 boxes of unsleeved Soul 45's but I got a bit bored going though them as most of it was battered. Having said that I did get a nice Bobby Hutton - Come See Whats Left Of Me - Phillips from this store amongst some other nice Oldies. As we were travelling with non-vinyl types this was about all I could swing but I think there were a couple more stores that the guy in Minds Eye recommended but they escape me now.
  17. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a must if you have any interets in music. If you are looking for 45's you could try these 2 stores. I was there last year and picked up a nice handful of cheapies. Both these stores are a couple of minutes apart on the same street and are about 10 mins drive from Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame: My Mind's Eye - 13723 Madison Avenue, Lakewood Hodad's - 13413 Madison Avenue, Lakewood I also went to Record Den, 7661 Mentor Avenue, Mentor but this is a bit of a drive out of the city. Lots of 45's but a real mixed bag.

  22. Yesterday I drove 45 mins to view a collection of approx 5,000 45's which the guy wanted $400 for. Unfortunately, or as expected, they turned out to be a pile of junk, lots of Country, 70's pop etc, and after sifting through I came home with: The Impressions - Cant Satisfy - ABC The Larks - The Jerk - Reo Verdelle Smith - A Piece Of The Sky - Capitol and nestling all on its own, no sleeve, was: Little Charles - Its A Heartache - Canadian Decca for $1!!
