  3. Did you find one of these? I have a Ex+ Atlantic promo up for grabs.
  4. I have an Ex Canadian Tamla Motown copy of Why When Love Is Gone up for offers.
  5. I have had several of the blue and orange and always believed Orange was the Canadian one although it doesnt say on the label?
  6. In the same handful of 45's was The Mighty Clouds Of Joy - Time - ABC Dunhill, is this known or played? It bloody should be - what a belting 70's dancer.
  7. Not a demo but I do have a Canadian copy of Hope We Have if you want to make an offer. Also have: Marvin Smith - Have More Time The Artistics - Ill Always Love You Demetriss Tapp - What Kind Of Girl all on Mint- Purple Canadian Brunswick and all open to offers.
  8. All I meant was when I played it yesterday I just thought it sounded a bit more discoey than when I remembered it from years ago, when it was, as you all say, a monster.
  9. As I am in Canada I am going to assume Gamma is the Canadian one although nothing on the label.
  10. Just picked this up for a buck at the local Record Show, any real value? Played it and it sounded pretty discoey? John Manship has it in his last book for a tenner?
  11. To be honest, I find it a little bit sad that a major dealer is reduced to this sort of cheap publicity.
  12. Jully Black has done a cracking version of Seven Day Fool, she is from Toronto.
  13. Not Junk shops exactly but in the 8 years I have been in Canada I have found the following from Circle M - a flea market about 3 miles from home: 2 copies of Doug Banks - Kept On Dancing - 50c each 3, yes 3 copies of Mickie Champion - $1 each Ray and Dave - Wrong Wrong Wrong - Mica - $1 add to this lots of Northern classics, Reggae, Motown 45's in the 10 - 50 - quid bracket and some pretty rare Garage and Psych stuff as well. It has dropped off recently as there has been an upswing in the amount of people I see there buying and looking for vinyl. Just recently I picked up 65 UK Reggae 45's from 69-71 for $120, I sold the first couple and made $160 for them.
  14. I am finally getting around to listing some cheapies I need to clear out. At the moment I am up to letter K and list is at 192 items. Nothing over $10US with most being $5. Lots of Northern cheapies plus another short list of Motown items, again most at $5. Pm me your email address if you want to see the list or email me at kevinnew (at) cogeco (dot) ca Kevin
  15. I tried at least 3 times to register for this site with nothing ever coming of it, then tried again and got a confirmation back in 24 hours? Keep at it.
  16. My mum works in the Sue Ryder Cancer shop in Winchcombe, Gloucs and they have someone who looks at all the records that come in first. I used to get first dibs on UK pop/R&R stuff but not anymore. I gave her a list of labels, Stateside, Tamla Motown, London, Oriole, Columbia, etc etc plus "anything with a big hole in the middle" and she used to call me if anything came in!!
  17. Neil Before I pay can you confirm shipping is free to Canada as well? Can you give me a total for the Precisions Ep and Pearl Jones if there is a shipping charge Kevin
  18. See if you can find Jully Black's version of Etta's Seven Day Fool, I nearly spilt me Special K when the video came on local cable news channel. She is a young lass from Toronto. I was dispatched by the wife to buy the CD but - Oh Dear!!!
  19. I think Steve's article was regarding Canadian only release but Basic, Black and Pearl did get a mention. I have a spare copy of There'll Come a Day if someone wants to PM me with an offer. Kevin
  20. I have talked to a couple of guys locally who have almost complete runs of Sparton, Quality, Reo etc and they havent seen/got one. I sold a battered test press last year.
  21. I have just used it a couple of times - 11:00 here in Canada - and had no problem. What to they class as a frequent user?
  22. Dave I havent seen a coloured Curtom from this period, they all seem to be white label and none of them mention promo etc. Mind you I havent actually come across a copy of this in 8 years yet, but have had copious amounts of other Impressions stuff on the white label.
  23. Bettye Lavette - last year as support for Buddy Guy, not very good at all, and we left as Buddy got stuck into about a 30 minute Jam as he wandered around the venue, unfortunatley this was only his second song. Etta James - last year, I understand she has been ill and all that but for the money I was a bit disappointed. Chairmen Of The Board - Glos Leisure Centre - sometime late 70's - God they were abysmall. Surely they have enough material not to have to do an extended Love Train? George Benson - Wembley Arena? - 79/80? - so far at the back I could just see his guitar glinting in the light!! But the worst ever was Tina Turner, again in Gloucester, wife had a niece staying with us as she was going to English school and wanted to go and see her, so off we go. Only time I have ever asked for my money back at a concert.
  24. Believe it or not, one of the best shows I have ever seen was The Stylistics, supported by Candi Satton at Glos Leisure Centre many years ago. They were slick, professional and sounded bloody great. Also saw Bobby Bland about 3 years in the Silver Dollar Room in Toronto, he did 2 shows, 8:00 and 10:00 and to be honest when he shuffled on stage in a Purple Velour Shell Suit I wondered what was going to happen but he was f*#king brilliant. He did a superb version of Bill Withers - Lovely Day as a encore and it was truly superb.
  25. I scared off one of Edwin Starr's backing band at Gloucester Leisure Centre coz he was chatting the wife up, does that count?
