Rip Frankie Knuckles
Hey Brian Long time no see!!!!!! Hope you're well ? with the exception of the sad news today, of course Great story you've shared with us, made me smile (& laugh) lots, so cheers Sadly, I don't have any Frankie stories to share, as I only came into contact with him at the Southport Weekender's (well, me & 2000 others ) Still, to be in the same room as him, breathing the same sweaty air, loving the same music, is satisfaction in itself. Take care fella & all the best Ali x

 bog off Len. I actually said on another thread (can't remember which one) that I hate the majority of the scene at the moment, but my reasons for disliking it are my own personal reasons, & it's not for me to take the pxss (especially if it gets personal) or advise others they are wrong (& I am right) for the way they choose to embrace soul music. We're going over old ground here, again, but there are two "main" scenes as we all know, let them enjoy theirs, & stop worrying about ours. Regards Ali

The annoying thing is Pete, there's just as much pxss taking on FB as there is here (it can be more vicious on FB actually!) but because there's say 20 + different pxss taking threads going on there, that not everyone sees, & only one here it's easy to focus on the Soul Source thread & slate it on Facebook. If Facebook is so wonderful (& Soul Source so bad) & Facebookers are not bothered about what Soul Sourcers think, why the heck do they still come on here to read the threads!!!! The mind boggles

Thing is Mark, it's embarrassing to us, a mature audience I would think, but to some of the young ones today, they would find it cool The irony for me, is that I left the Mod Scene in the 80's (because I was tired of wearing the uniform) to join the, what I called at the time, "Northern Soul Scene" & was over the moon that I could still hear fabulous black music & not have to wear any "uniform" but hey, times have clearly changed, I still refuse to wear a uniform, but if others want to then that's their choice Regards Ali

I enjoyed it, yeah, quite a few embarrassing bits, but I did like seeing folk that I know shuffling away. It wasn't meant to be a documentary, just light hearted entertainment, & if it helps the film "Northern Soul" be a success, then fair play. The scene portrayed is a million miles away from the scene that I grew up in during the mid 80's/early 90's, but it's clearly a scene that, in the main, many young folk/returnees feel a big part of now, so good luck to them, let them enjoy their soul journey, as I enjoyed mine, & as I'm still enjoying away from the TV cameras Regards Ali

Northern Soul - Selling The Faith
Just to clarify - these were at the Droitwich event you attended, & not Prestatyn. There were many reputable music sellers at Prestatyn & it would be awful for folk to think it was going on there. Regards Ali

Northern Soul - Selling The Faith
I had a mug bought for me at the 1990 TAC Yarmouth weekender, a guy playing a sax on the mug, I still have the mug, & use it for my toothbrush & razors. I love the mug, as it reminds me of a fantastic weekender, & it will always be in my bathroom I did buy a drinks coaster at Prestatyn, the ones that are mini records, as I think they look really cool, & it jazzes up (but its NOT a jazz record!) my boring desk at work... no one at work knows who Roy Hamilton is so my secret is safe I am fine with venues selling merchandise (I don't have to look) as long as they don't take over the place, & I do feel that one particular stall at Prestayn was just too big for where it was situated, the sheer height of it was ridiculous, & had it been situated against a wall wouldn't have caused any disruption to what is usually a comfortable area to hang around. Regards Ali Edit: my coaster was only 50p so I don't feel that I or Roy Hamilton had been exploited

Northern Soul - Selling The Faith
 Len, what are you like!! I'm not ALWAYS positive, I actually hate the majority of the scene at the moment, but just put up with it, & it does make me value more elements of the scene that still float my boat. All the best chuck Ali x

The Impressions - Live
Wow that's brilliant Brav I could only hear them from outside the Hall, as it was too busy for me to try fight my way to the front (or the back even!!) so had to make do with the sales area, it was still great what I heard, but it's nice to actually see them (being 4ft 11 I could see feck all ) Thanks for posting
