I only posted an hour ago so no chance for people to respond yet, just intrigued to know what records they would play at a cheap underplayed spot at a nighter . It is only a scenario, not likely to happen , no point in saying loads of records out there at a reasonable price that need playing at a nighter and then not having a conviction go put a list up. If people scorn f*** em.

Why not add 10 records of affordable underplayed records each that the posters on this thread think would give the the big money records a run at a upfront nighter.

Totally with most you wrote and the section quoted sums up my feelings too , some great nighters late 80s to mid 90s and good clubs too and a very varied type of soul music been played which was great if your taste is not just Northern oldies , new releases along newly discovered oldies loved Bradford , Parkers and a few more.

When I have been to see live acts and I have seen many , I have never expected a exact duplicate of the recorded songs and mostly I have never been disappointed, I think to see your idols in the flesh and giving their all has always been suffice for me .

I enjoyed most of what I heard and no criticism from me but seen a couple videos and I will not be watching on TV looked more like a festival at Glastonbury from the Northern Soul fraternity at the front.

Enjoyed most of the concert I listened at home but looking at the YouTube videos that was the best place , looked more like Manchester City's treble winning party and looks like they were giving away t shirts to the front row.

Just attend the venues that satisfies your soul requirements. Personally I would not be seen dead at a Warner type event but loads do attend Live and live and never cross paths with the different factions of the scene , they are enough events out there to satisfy everyone. And also no one owns the music it was made for everyone.

Third Summer Music presents afternoon soul sessions every single Wednesday at The Lower Turks Head, a wonderful heritage pub in the centre of Manchester. In addition to sets from our regular soul spinners, Open Decks slots are available for anyone who wants to bring some records down! (Bringing your own cartridges preferred but not mandatory; digital decks + laptop also available) 2pm til 8pm every Wednesday, followed by our open mic night

Sounds a relaxed sort of way to spend a boring Wednesday if you're retired or off work take a few of your faves along which people may not know and play em to the crowd. Hope it's a success needs something outside the box.

Was not the greatest final for the purists but a fascinating tactical battle to watch which I enjoyed but thought the longer the game went on City would eventually wear them down , but credit to Inter for fighting back and unlucky not to score late on . And well done to City for the treble never look likely after the World Cup but fight to the end is no more apt than for this achievement .
