Canns was on Chapel Walk selling instruments ,sheet music and records etc.

Trying to remember the clothes i bought from all the shops mentioned which would have included my first Crombie , Dr Martens boots , loads of Shermans and Brutus shirts , Levi Sta Prest , Fred Perrys and Slazenger jumpers. Also the accessories the ready folded jacket pocket hanky wore with a tie tack the red and lime green socks the black brolly , never owned a bluebeat though with my ears i would have looked like Freddie Parrot Faced Davis.

I also thought there was a Paul Rex on Castle Street in Sheffield just below from the smaller branch of Suggs , but its a long time ago so i could be wrong .

The record shop Vallances did'nt that change to being Bradleys if i remember rightly , got some nice Sixties albums from there.

One record i've never liked is the classic Our Love Is In The Pocket either version , i know its a fave of many but it leaves me stone cold.

Different strokes and all that great to see that someone likes tracks that others find crap, Frankie And The Classicals was mentioned as a record which is hated but i love it to bits .

Manifesto for me, loud tuneless and utter garbage , also another one which makes me cringe is Michael by the C.o.d.s.

Can't remember the sprayed Martens , but this was the time when fashion went tits up , i went from wearing classic clothes such as a Crombie ,loafers ect. to shite like Oxford bags, wide checked jackets , penny round shirts and stacked heeled shoes ,what twats we all looked.

Seeing that Doris Troy has been dead since 2004 don,t think there was going to be a lot of confusion with your SS name , i think i may have got a little excited thinking that the real Bobby Womack might have joined SS more so with the fact that he has just toured Britain and Lorraine Chandler is on here.

Just remembered the name of the shop at the side of the Brewer On The Bridge , it was Mortimers.

Remember them both very well did not buy much from Harringtons but bought loads of Shermans and Brutus shirts from Paul Rex aka Sexy Rexy also bought amongst other things from there a leather trench coat .What was the name of the shop that sold work wear and camping gear next to the pub The Brewer On The Bridge , bought my first pair of Doc Martens and a Harrington jacket from there with one of my first wages as a fifteen year old . There was also a Paul Rex in my home town of Rotherham also in Rotherham was a shop called Kendrick Fieldsend which sold an amazing selection of Ben Shermans shirts which came in presentation boxes at that time . Also bought a two tone suit from Kendrick Fieldsend which i still remember with great fondness ,great clothes and great times , then you look at most of the youth today arses hanging out of there jeans with underpants showing hands down there pants feeling theire privates.

Great Label , and my fave track is the fantastic sweet soul ballad 'Make Up For Lost Time ' by the Montclairs , utter class.

If theres anybody out there whos not aware of this great track, purchase the Sean Hampsey compiled cd Love And Jealousy which contains the track plus about 20 others in the same vein all for about 4 quid from Amazon amongs others.

Out of his many great tracks Lets Straighten It Out is doing for me at the moment , a wonderful artist.
