My all time fave LP is DORIS DUKES I,M A LOSER . Awesome LP but not for the faint hearted , as a LP collector there are hundreds of LPS i keep going back to but even though i,ve owned the DORIS DUKE LP since the seventies it still moves me to this day . Great songs , great singer , great production pure DEEP SOUL perfection .

    Ocean Front LP track .
  5. I Assume it got a single release if not it can be found on MOTORCITY MEMORIES , its pretty dire and predictable as are most Levine produtions Memories And Souvenirs by Freda Payne is nice though .
  6. I first came across the term when it was used by Rod Dearlove in Voices From The Shadows , to describe records from 68 onwards to mid seventies. Records of midtempo with strings .
  7. Also done to good effect by Dusty Springfield . Seem to think the Fantastics also recorded it as well.
  8. The Blossoms were the favoured back up vocalists of producer Johnny Rivers , so Darlene Love could be a suspect .
  9. Fantastic LP also , but as stated no credits on the sleeve .
  10. Bit poignant this one, Little Johnny Blair Momma's Gone. I'll always love my mama , The Intruders

  12. I agree as i replied earlier never thought my copy was a original , bought it from local record shop .
  13. If it is legit and not a reissue its led a charmed life in my collection cos i binned nearly all my lookalikes years ago. I,m still not convinced on this one though i bought mine from my local record shop early in the 70s .

  16. Are they still active in the music industry in some capacity , especially the front 3

Sad but true we chase the rare and obscure records of our genre but tend to overlook the bloody obvious stuff.

Always liked the Tavares myself the Hard Core Poetry Album is still a often played long player at my abode.
  21. Major Lance for me with J.J .Barnes running a close second. Female got to be Lorraine Chandler.
  22. Try to get LOST AND FOUND the BLUE ROCK STORY . BLUE ROCK being a Mercury subsidary. The said double CD is highly recommeded, artists including Dee Dee Warwick ( not the 2 tracks you mentioned) , Otis Leavill , Johnnie Moore amongst others . Worth every penny.
  23. Sorry i can,t post anything, but got to agree the man is a genius. One of my all time faves is his Please Let Me Kiss You Goodbye, off the super Gag A Maggot LP.
