Keni Lewis - What's Her Name
Love it to bits but wouldn't play it out if I had a copy. The lyrics make me sit down and listen to it instead of wobbling around the floor to it...

What Is The Most Ever Paid For A Record?
Not soul, but on Google the first link see here "The world's most expensive record we could find has an estimated value of $180,000.00 USD. Unfortunately the only collection you will ever find it in is that of Paul McCartney. Recorded in 1958 by the Quarry Men, Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison, Colin Hanton and John Duff Lowe, the first pressing of their version of That'll Be The Day would be a jewel in any collection."

Rca - Rare, Collectible And Soulful - Volume 3?
Some of the unreleased tracks didn't do it for me too at the time when I bought the CDs. I never liked you only live twice, the strident chorus spoils it for me and LC's voice seems to be a bit off key at times. Will dig out volume 1 and 2 tonight, maybe the unreleased RCA stuff is like a good wine and needs maturing

Edward Hamilton, Baby Don't You Weep

Jm Auction
Am I mixing it up or isn't this the one that Tim Brown rates well into three figures (800+??)?

Gloria & The Tiaras /im So Satisfied
One of my alltime favourites I'd never sell. Hardly turns up, I'd say 300-350 but more likely to be a Manship auction piece if it turns up especially if it's in M- condition.

Ray Pollard - The Drifter
PS: Have an UK copy of LJB "let him go" for sale if anybody's interested?

Ray Pollard - The Drifter
Just checked with Manship's site, LJB-Drifter came out on UA 1136 and Let him go on UA 1204. Can anyone date both releases? "Let him go" came out in Germany as well, with a nice picture sleeve. Been trying to find out if Drifter was released over here in Krautsville as well but didn't find any hint of that so far. Went to see a LJB live about 15 years ago. After the gig I asked him about his Ray Pollard covers, he remembered both songs but wasn't aware they were released, he was given two publisher's acetates to listen to. Wonder which takes the acetates featured. Ray's released ones or unfinished demo takes?

Ray Pollard - The Drifter
Story goes they had withdrawn the first release of "only a fool breaks his own heart" with "the drifter" on flip and re-released it few months later with "let him go (and let me love you)" on flip. Strange coincidence that "let him go" is the flip of Ray Pollard's "drifter"?

James Lovejoy
So, does anyone know this one here then?
-
Bluesbusters - I Won't Let You Go
It is. Released by Artone records who also did the dutch Tamla-Motown 45s. They usually came with a picture sleeve as well but I guess these are impossible to find 40+ years later...

Parkway - Chubby Checker - (at The) Discotheque
Have to correct myself, the first german releases licenced from CP came out on Ariola itself starting in the late 50s or so. They later introduced CP as a sub-label.
-
Parkway - Chubby Checker - (at The) Discotheque
The first german CP releases were very early 60s when Chubby Checker, Chiffons, etc. had their first hits. When was the first UK CP release? Who distributed Cameo-Parkway in the UK? In Germany all CP releases were licensed, manufactured and distributed by Ariola.

Joe Douglas On Playhouse
never heard of a fake too but "crazy things" sure was one of the biggest sounds late 90s/early 2ks, not just UK but all over Europe...

cue-burn'
Almost correct, Barry. That's not the only reason but the main reason IMO You're right, you could play any record either way. but the problem is the needle, back in the days needles were designed to be used in one way only. The were sort of blunt on one side so when you back-cue'd a record too fast a nasty noise was likely to develop. I understand that nowadays needles are not blunt on any side so shouldn't due any harm to your records. If unsure get a "DJ" needle or something similar from Ortofon or any other quality supplier. I cue in every record as I want end of previous and start of next record to flow smoothly. Remember that outside the british Northern Scene DJ's hardly drivel between their discs So next time anyone of you is dj'ing, balance the tone arm (about 2.5 on the scale when using a Technics 1210), get your own needles to make sure they're ok and if you cue in your record do it slooooowwwwly..

Parkway - Chubby Checker - (at The) Discotheque
I'm not very familiar with the UK CP design but basically yes, similar. I don't have my copy of Discotheque here right now but attached scan of another german Chubby Checker release, label design is the same as on Discotheque

Original Vinyl Only ?
Marc, I know what and I know who you mean and I agree with you Bit confusing in Germany when it comes to OVO, some well known excellent DJ's do play originals only some don't, some say they do but don't have a clue on how to differ between original and pressing (e.g. "Soul Rabbi"). Personally I can't really be bothered about what a DJ plays. I'd rather hear a good song off a bootleg than a shite song off an original ... (Edited the DJ's bit as felt it wasn't really meaning what I wanted to say)

What's The Best Line In A Record?
these intro lines always do it for me, unsurpassable: Now if there's a smile on my face it's only there trying to fool the public but when it comes down to fooling you now honey that's quite a diff'rent subject. AND The moment I wake up Before I put on my makeup I say a little prayer for you And if I had a penny for each time I told my mates how much I like the lyrics to Jo Ann Courcy's "I got the power" I could afford an original by now...

Do You Dj With Boots Knowingly
I've been seen dj'ing with boots every there and then. But usually trainers only for me
