  1. Hi, was wondering if you guys can help me. I've been after Richard Ace - Hang 'em high for quite some time now. There's a JA Harry J blank on E-Bay at the moment but it lists a- and b-side as: Richard Ace - Candy lady b/w Black & George - Hang 'em high Now that confuses me a bit, the Trojan UK release has Richard Ace - Hang 'em high b/w Black & George - Candy Lady. I asked the seller if he just mixed up the artists but he confirmed that the Richard Ace track is Hang 'em high. Can somebody please confirm that this is the record I'm after and said JA blank has the same tracks as the Trojan UK release? I don't want to spend $$$ on the wrong record. My knowledge about Ska and Reggae is rather "limited" and it happened to me before that I bought records only to find out it was the wrong version and not the song I wanted. TIA Benji
  2. Mark, why opening a separate thread for this record when you've listed it in your other sales thread as well? Or is this a different copy and I haven't noticed that?

  6. a friend of mine bought one of these acetates from r. domar, i think he bought the cairos one. definitely no shrine material, the track sounds like a 50s doo wop track and would have been very very dated if it really had been a 1965/66 production. if anyone's interested i can ask my friend if he still got it and put a scan up here...
  7. because the winning bidder will certainly be a 'fake' bidder seller won't have to pay any fees in the end i think. though seller has to go through a lot of hassle with ebay to prove that bidder is fake, i.e. non payer.

  12. thanks to all of you for the info, next question: who got a decent nick copy for me @ a decent price?
  13. yep, am talking about the mid 70s disco-ish dancer and not the wonderful but yet very different midtempo fingersnapper "my conscience" which happens to be on the same label but I guess 3-4 years earlier. sadly i don't have popsike access here in the office and google wasn't really that helpful.
  14. was wondering, Lovelites "Get him off my conscience", you don't see it on sales list that often do you? how much would I have to pay for a copy in decent nick?
  15. another version is Satin - Your love's got me - Shell
  16. Superbs and Marvellos now sold. Anyone to make me a nice offer for the lovely and shit-rare italian issue of Marvin Smith? BTW, the sticker on the label of Marvin Smith is an italian "DJ Copy - not for sale" sticker, if this makes it a genuine DJ copy I'll leave to any potential buyer

I find these two a bit surprising. Vel-Vets shouldn't be more than say 150 should it? And I expected Bobby Reed to go for much more. I take it it was a vinyl issue or was it a much more common styrene issue?
  18. flynny-san, any special reason why you've deleted the price in your posting?

weren't carvers or EMI discs played by "top djs" part and parcel of the scene since the 70s? as a matter of facts, one well known UK dj had a whole bunch of EMI discs when he came over to Germany in the late 80s/early 90s. reason was, he bought pretty expensive discs, cut his EMI discs and sold the original 45s on. another example, years ago Pete Smith had Rob Marriotts EMI disc dub of Butchs Diane Lewis cover up for sale. Think the story was, that part of a record deal was that Rob did get a tape recording of the original acetate. So, carvers are nothing new IMO. yet, due to exposure on and the distribution of information via the internet, lots of people think this is something rather recent.
