john, unless someone stands up and confirms that it was pressed by XY in say 1978 due to demand, your description reads not like original and counterfeit but more like 1st issue and 2nd issue done by the label owners. maybe the record did sell well on release and they pressed another say 500 copies?
  2. if you mean proper R&B tracks played on the scene, i'd say stuff like richard berry - have love will travel little walter - my babe charles sheffield - voodoo (this is a late 50s recording, isnt it?) are among the oldest played. but oldest 'proper northern' tracks? how about jimmy ruffin on miracle? 61'ish...
  3. up! still want one ...... cheers benji
  4. hi, i'm after an original copy of herbert hunter - i was born to love you. any condition from VG upwards considered. please either PM me or email me! cheers benji

Astra was a Pittsburgh based bootleg label, think a local radio DJ was involved. basically they "reissued" all the local hits...
  6. unissued acetate said to be/covered up as by the "united four". think it was supposed to be a harthon acetate, hence the group name. did a small research on it couple of years ago, if i remember correctly acetate was originally played by richard searling at wigan, anyone confirm? brill tune!
  7. ariola and hansa were both separate sub-labels to BMG Germany. in the 70s the collaborated under the name of "ariola-hansa" all over europe but operated from germany, hence my assumption that the italian release of KOW was licensed from germany. i reckon, as the rights to KOW were owned by BMG Germany back then and they did a centralised licensing, that infact all worldwide releases of KOW were licensed from germany (even though it was a UK recording). so next time you're on the dancefloor think "thanks to them krauts"
  8. has anyone dealt with this vinylmusic bloke before? i ordered a record two weeks ago and promptly paid, guess what? neither got a record or reply to e-mails ever since
  9. hi, i've just been offered a copy for 40 quid which i think is a bit steep. what do the price guide say? it's not really an in-demander, is it?
  10. anyone out there with a nice copy for me? TIA benji
  11. might be interesting for some, that the "hansa" logo you see on top of the "durium" scan was the german label for "KOW". so i guess durium licensed it from german hansa and not from UK ariola...

two different bootlegs that i'm aware of: 1) yellow label and black lettering lookalike(original yellow issue has blue lettering) 2) W/D lookalike which is one-sided (original W/D has a b-side) so originals are pretty easy to distinguish from pressings, aren't they?
  13. doh, pete, you're right. didn't have the manship guide at hand when i posted. original "case of tyme" is green with stamped ZTSC matrix. manship guide doesn't really say there's an original crediting "james lewis ...", he says "bootlegged twice with a yellow label black lettering. once in vinyl, once in styrene, delta #102883" IMO this means, there's no original "james lewis...", what do you think?
  14. it's a bootleg. original is credited to "case of tyme" and NOT to "james lewis and the case of tyme" (i think 'james lewis' was c/up title...)
  15. I know this isn't really the appropriate forum for it, but i'm so desperately after a copy of richard ace - hang 'em high i thought maybe you can help me? any label is fine as long as it's at least VG and original pressing. please PM me cheers benji
  16. 51 views but yet no one wants to send me alan's email address? come on you lot, what's wrong? it's all about a possible dj booking...
  17. hi all, can some kind soul send me alan handscombe's email addy (off list)? or is he on soul source? benji

got a few 45s for sale: belita woods - my magic corner - original audio disc acetate - 100 machine - my baby loves me - jarrett - 50 starlets - better tell him no - pam - 25 all prices in GBP, all discs in EX/M- condition. if interested please PM me or email. regards from germany, benji
  22. i quite like it too but IMO way too 'mod-ish' to go massive on the northern scene, too much of a typical british mid 60s blue eyed soul production in it. i tell you what, trade it with a mod for a proper soul record

nope, german release has a big hole, generally german 45s from the late 50s on have big holes.
