I'd even say it's the same backing as the Johnny Moore release. I clearly remember Richard Searling on one of his radio shows saying something like "I went through 1000s of records in the States but I never came across this one". And played the Johnny Moore release. Stuck in my head ever since. Fantastic record. Whatever version.

More likely they collect the same records. There are jamaican collectors after that deep-ish beat ballad-ish sound, they called it end of the pier sounds or something like that.

Not 100% correct. At least from what I know. Correct, it's called Well Tempered Soul. However it's a dutch release which was officially sent to Germany. At least that's my understanding after seeing 4 different copies, all were dutch but had stickers/inner sleeves indicating they were sold in Germany. So far I haven't seen a 100% german press.

The test press was done in Germany. And maybe only there. It doesn't surprise me that RCA US aren't aware of any test pressings.

Doesn't mean anything. There's a seller on here who repeatedly states a certain record is "german only release" however it's actually a dutch one. I saw a better quality scan of the auctioned record, it wasn't a german release. Compare the label design of the Wilson Pickett 45 posted here to the design of the Popsike one. You'll find many differences, even given the fact the Popsike scan is of low resolution. And then there's the numbering system different to other german releases etc. etc. bla bla bla.

Thanks to you and Roburt for pointing out french Vogue release was done after it charted in UK. It's listed way too often as a genuine 60s release. Like Chubby Checker - You just don't know on spanish London, another 70s release.

Poor mix. Horns way too prominent. From what I can hear the backing vocals are alright but way too low in the mix. And the song doesn't go anywhere. Don't know what the other side is but I sure wouldn't keep that record for just this side.

The one on Popsike isn't a german press, it's US (from what I remember). It was recorded in Germany, that's correct.

Chalky, these Recordshack test pressings are just a piss take and as you say, exploitation of the market. As is offering them for up to 4 times their retail price here on SS. 50+ TP copies made of each title and available for the price of a regular issue if just shop around a bit.
