Yep often been in a 'heart to heart' convo and had to 'suddenly' stop it. Once, some one was 'really deep', telling me about a time they were going to kill themselves, etc - A record came on, I said ..."Back in a sec".....and as I was dancing, I thought, oops, that was bad timing......I got back - No problem, and carried on chatting - He was 'one of us'; you see Whereas on the other hand, I've had people that have been offended (and said so) just because I've 'been in the zone' and 'ignored them' - That really irritates me. Great stuff - Me and Nina always had our own 'adventure', then we'd talk b*llox about each of our adventures for hours when we got home. Many times we've given some 'strange soul' (that we had only just met) a lift home from f*ckin miles away - One stayed at a mates for the next three days - THIS IS NOT NORMAL! - But we loved it! Len

For years I suffered from 'Imposter Syndrome', but as you get older you come to realise that some people are simply not friendly (their loss) Social skills are over rated mate All the best, Len

The (What I call) 'Welcoming Committee' on the door is extremely important - It puts people in the right frame of mind (appreciated), and I don't mean 'over the top' as that isn't genuine. I know what you mean mate. All the best, Len
  13. I love tapes! The only reason we bought our last car, was because it had a tape player Len
  14. You're probably right there mate. Every time I was D.Jing through the 90'd I noticed there was always this guy on the stage (wearing a head band) that had one of those huge tape recorders - He taped everywhere he went. As I said, I love those 'ruff 'n' ready' recordings, they even taped people's conversations in the back ground - Great stuff. Len
  15. I love cr*p recordings of Nighters Len
  16. 100 Club, Winsford, Wilton through the 90's were perfect to me. Great times. All the best, Len
  17. He he nice one mate 'Granted' by the way - It's not actually on 'The Shudder List' All the best, Len
  18. Nice one mate - All except for the bit ....."convincing themselves they are the only ones doing it right"......I can only speak for myself and my 'fellows' in 'The Den' of course, but we simply play good soul music (no rules) and we're no better than the guys 'n' gals in the main room, most of which come and say hello, or have a friendly laugh at us 'doing our thing' - All good fun! All the best, Len
  19. Yes you are 'right'.....but it's so 'wrong' I'm still surprised at it personally. All the best, Len
  20. Alright Win - You don't get out much do ya? (Just kidding, keep em coming mate) Loads of things / words / phrases that used to be quite cool, or meant something meaningful and deep are now cringe worthy. Unfortunately they have been hijacked - hence I have compiled a 'Shudder List'....it has now got to the point where I daren't speak to a mate that has also added a few to it - Our conversations now go....."Blah, blah, blah"....."No, Len, you can't say that anymore, remember?"......."Oh yeh sorry, blah, blah, blah,"......."Len, no!"......."Sorry"......blah, blah, blah".......etc......I've given up talking to him now because we're both so screwed up with it all All the best, Len K.F.C!
  21. FANTASTIC! Len
  22. Not 'off topic' really mate, the thread is about how different the Scene has become. I remember back in the 90's, when I booked D.J's I always had a long conversation telling them to 'do their thing', and that I couldn't give a sh*t about the dance floor - BEFORE anyone jumps on that - It was my way of 'pushing' them that little bit more to make them REALLY 'do their thing', because I meant it - Why would I hire anyone if I can do the same from my shelves? Back then places were more 'forgiving' mind - ridiculous using the word 'forgiving', because that is what it's all about. All the best, Len
