  1. Those are wicked, there for every ones enjoyment. Thank -you
  2. Yes it was Gerald Mathis on those two songs and Lady in Green was between Twirl and Impact contracts
  3. Andrew Tats Taylor and myself met Tony Johnson through B LaVette having been told he was a former member and lead singer of the Magnetics at a bar one night. He pissed on Tats shoe in the rest room, by accident. He was a lovely man and we spent time with him (some may of seen the footage we took of him singing in his car (real tear jerker stuff) and as a thankyou we took his sister out (she was at college in the UK) for the day on our return. As for Gerald Mathis I spoke to him in 1994 with John Kingham when in Detroit and was going to meet up with him but for some reason it didn't happen, I kick myself for that because he died a few years later. He was my favourite lead having sang "Same Old Feeling" too. To add a little bit about Robert being shot a couple of years after being in Prestatyn they have since caught the bastard that did it and it turns out shooting Robert wasn't the only bad thing he had done, he is now in jail, I hope you rot in there
  4. All very similar to a certain person interrupting the conversation we were having with Ann Bridgeforth on a Saturday afternoon at Cleggy Week-ender bearing in mind I and Tats had brought her into the limelight and hadn't seen her for a few years, this guy says "Ok Little Ann, Mr Levine is ready for you now" she replied, "Tell him he can wait, I'm talking with my friends"
  5. When I got to his house it would be late morning and after being there close to 2 hrs he got ready for work on the afternoon stint, had to pinch myself on the way out, had I really sat with Popcorn one side and Duke the other side.
  6. can you post it up or let me use it in the book, and credit you of course
  7. From you with your track history that's something, I'm about "Crying over You" thank-you Tim
  8. I'm aiming for Feb, that's all I can say to be honest, it can depend on graphics and printers time. DVD included of footage taken in Detroit 1990/1991 some you may of seen on YT
  9. Only if you ask nicely I wont, 1-500 all numbered
  10. I told him all of this but even with an offer to come and sing was of little interest to him, he was really fucked off with the music business, anyway that Andy Rix and that Tim Ashebende met enough of their own stars but i'm not jealous I met my fair share. Those two mentioned btw are real hero's within themselves, let me tell you. so much respect.
  11. Duke Browner was never happy at Motown, he wasn't allowed a free run. He took the Lollipops there who had a few VIP tunes and unreleased songs and they are rather good. A few people tried to ring Duke including me on several occasions but he didn't want to know, he turned is back on music and took a more regular job. I got round his house because Popcorn took me round, it was never gonna happen otherwise
  12. I went to Duke Barny Browners house in 1988 spent a couple of hours with him and got a few records too. Breaking news at the time he told me it was the Volumes in between contracts, some didn't believe me until proof was given when they sang at the Prestatyn Week-ender, then suddenly a few people became experts on the subject, that pissed me off. You can read this story and other stories when my book comes out in Feb 2019
  13. Tim Brown had my old one, don't know if he kept it or moved it on Ted
  14. Absolutely agree, I used to have a London demo, but could I get a red/white Stateside, the green and whites were easy
  15. Just wonderful Tim, I remember you meeting her, that voice was amazing and still rips me up. You have to laugh at these so-called talent winners and todays singing super stars (and no I don't know who they are) bet they wished they had half the voice she had, sometimes it just don't seem right. Again well done mate.
  16. Hi Ted, someone mentioned this Gillibrand to me before, it has nothing to do with me, I have never written on a record. Doesn't Ginger have one ?
  17. Yes it is, don't have it anymore sadly and still only one of four copies ever to my knowledge, I think the currant owners are like you say Ted, and im sure Ginger, Mick Smith and maybe Tim Brown retained my old copy but not sure. If anyone wants to talk about what is rare, well this is rare 4 copies and its stood the test of time
  18. In the US $140 for 'I Wanna Tell My Baby'/ Lover Come Back' DTown 1990 In the UK £80 for 'Queen of Fools UK Hickory issue £80 for an Inspirations on Breakthrough 1sided orig Paid £60 for a London demo of D Banks Our Love is/Open the (mint) but got a £40 speeding fine on the way home having collected it.
  19. Consider telling more stories Tim, you did it and discovered more records than Roy Castle. Things need to be documented (facts) before loose inaccurate words become the so called facts. Your experience is a gold mine. Remember you met one half of Detroit and I met the other half but away from that you did so, so much more. Its not only their legacy it's yours too. Gilly
  20. Gilly replied to Gilly's topic in All About the SOUL
Yes as you say, years ago (everyone) wanted to be a DJ. Now (everyone) wants to promote, it sure gives you a chance to DJ if you run it and further more if you can team up with another promoter you can DJ at his and he can DJ at yours. What more could you want, I will tell you, some punters wouldn't go a miss.
  21. 55 Soul nights on this Saturday, it will crawl up its own arse before long. Its a lot of talc and handbags me thinks
  22. I've come across loads of what I think must be mistakes in the BMI I think Americans have a different order to the alphabet than us too
  23. Yes Billy Miller, lead singer of the Inspirations (Midas) and sang with John Kondos, (Klondos) on Galaxie (that is the correct spelling)
