Worst Record Shop Experiences?
Today is pretty bad. Among the neatly collated never ending rows of Cliff and Barbara, in the basement of a Cornish junk store was a low shelf that stank so badly of sh..you know what...it made even me retch and I've been on board in operating theatres with many a gastrectomy and AP resection, but it made me gip, a broken toilet definitely. Two customers iin the shop pne said I've got to come up for air, and a girl with her father said said Daddy it smells really bad in here. I guess she's not going to collect records. Best thing I got was 2 copies of 12'' funking 4 Jamaica amd now I smell of sh##.all day. Anyone had as bad an experience?

Brand New Soul Single 45: Featuring Darrell Smith (As Seen on BBC Northern Soul at The Proms)
Judgement out until I hear it tonite, would be so easy to can it in the pub. As for LJ Johnson he did some questionable stuff but is still a very fine soul singer. 24 hours a day, you keep my temperature rising.

How you got into northern soul
1984, got hooked by my mate Robin Brace (Cleethorpes, Keele attendee) I stated collecting records in 1981, I was too young fo the famous niters and was into Ska Blue beat, only casually, as I found it limiting. . I'd been in a lot of trouble at football, it was getting worse by the week life was going nowhere and narrowly escaped jail after a court appearance. He gave me a quiet lecture, what do you want. to go round smacking people for etc etc fo and turned the volume up in his shed where we still meet. Records I could buy for 25p at Eddie's (RIP) Mart in Hull and when I came back to Eddie's many years just before Covid, he was still selling records at 25p a pop., but no Four Voices or Jason Knight

Opensource mi8xing desk-a new toy.
I have to say I am having a great amount of fun with a download mixing desk app on the computer called transtions DJ (opensource but probably online too) Even a complete numskull like myself can use it, with very entertaining results. Anyone else had a go on it-you cant uplaod from your decks as far as I can see but it whacked in my complete MP3 sould files some several hundred in about 3 seconds, and when you play them it shows up immediately how many BPM. A bit of practice and you can do a decent enough radio set without setting everything up, lazy I know but when youve also got 10,000 mp3s its very tempting to have a go at entertaining, as thers a record facility as well. I havent worked out yet if it has plug ins for your mixer and midi boards, but its total fun and makes a change form the ole xbox.

Boz Scaggs
My mate Eddie an African Americsncgasman (anesthetist) back in my days at Spire was nuts about Boz Scaggs and Peabo who he knew from his days in NYC. More for the general soul scene, I must now touch base with that man. C

Couple of Blue Labels
Thought folk might want to look at these blueys. I got a box out and was gonna sell, but I can't part with anything. Obscure fort lauderdale is it Carl Carlton? and the Cyntriks, a mystery label, which I haven't been able to locate, not heavyweights I'm sure, but of interest to some maybe!
