Worldwide Internet Radio Stations
I listen to Soul Cafe and NY Soul on the soul cafe app, you get to hear new fresh stuff on these stations, as I prefer to go straight to source, when you get in app there's various stations some 24 hour, others I haven't picked up, oldies station included. There's a few on mytuner, with soul stations in most states, some that come and go, but those are more Lik you pick up a few gems though the French Jams are good, you have to dig around.

Disparate FB Soul Pages
Just wondering if a lot of them were set up becuase the incumbents wanted to be boss of something. The more niche ones dont like opinion sometimes, I know that I've been blocked off half of them, are they generally echo chambers for the disgruntled and downright tedious?

Craig Charles Northern Soul will never go away - Rolling Stone UK
The less said about him the better. I know some quite disturbing tales of him in the 90s oh yes, and that's all I have to say.

Blaxploitation Movie Uncredited Song Ernie Lee Banks
Baby needs a new pair of shoes. Opening song. The numbers game.. Any ideas who Ernie Lee is or was, sounds funkeh. Dont think it was released. He did or was sampled for a thing in the 80s are you rready to be loved but its not in demand or anything. Karmello Brooks is in this movie too, maybe a couple more if you look Ernie just seems to crop up occasionally in the music world, but aha I just looked and he was in a number of movies in the 70s. Perhaps he jus tsang for the movie. Its available to watch thee whole movie on the ole YT.

Paul Toole aka Pablo Mesqualito
We exchanged a lot of laughs about the scene in general, only linked up 2 years ago, through the shop, even losing his eye as he did this year was, just yeah I'm gonna crack on, I think, by look of a couple of posts I missed, Tooley was getting set to fly when he drove down to Glasto and djed. That was ending 25.6. and he died end of July. Huge respects to family and friends.

Paul Toole aka Pablo Mesqualito
As noome else has said as yet Immensely sorry to hear that the owner of Records Revival, Scarborough, Paul Toole aka Tooley, aka Pablo Mesqualito a big soul and beat dj and soul collector has passed away (July 30th) after illness that had dogged him this year, shortly after gigging at Glasto, a very short while after undergoing cancer surgery. I'm sure a lot of people will have met Paul en-route to niters on the East Coast for niters. Lots more details on his Facebook page. We met 2 year ago, instant pals.. and he was kind and generous, with a superb sense of humour.

Bbc - The One Show - Northern Soul Segment - July 2023
Craig Charles is not the ideal representative of the soul or funk scene at all, he would never show up at a bonfide decent night as he'd be laughed out before he got ten foot, I imagine.. this is more comedy from the Beeb. Sorry not my cup of tea.

What could you not bear to lose?
Family plain and simple and pets if I had them. That's it. I'm kind of philosophical about personal goods, here today gone tomorrow. I'd still throw the record boxes out the window if I had time in a fire.

Do I Love You ? A brand new play by John Godber
Does John Godber come to soul nights? Never seen him in Hull, even for researching this. obviously it doesn't mean he doesn't attend, but nobody has mentioned anything, not a dicky bird. Im thinking of that play scene in League of Gentleman with Chubby Brown

Hello KJW just having al ook through now, just edited this ignore me I can't. Count Cheers Sean- Renovating a Sitar ...painters advice please
Hey friends I bought a nice old Indian Sitar see photos with a huge crack on the base (Toomba) Repaired the base traditional method, but for the paint job, (not my field) what is the painting method, I think it's stained or some sort of enamel or lacquer, it seems pretty hardcore, like a nail varnish, I've sanded down my repairs but the original paintwork is unaffected. So my question is can it be painted over at all, (new.paint job) using a primer, or is a spray can best? Its aold so I would t use an elec sander on it. The areas where I've sanded the original paint isn't even scratched. Thanks Sean- Residency available Barton upon Humber
Hello all, there is a residency, in Barton on Humber North Lincolnshire, just across from the Humber Bridge..a cushy number in a really nice venue a higher end restaurant which has been established 5 years- what they need is for a DJ with old school funk edged tastes, (funk n fizz will be the night) though I think there will be a bit of artistic licence and freedom. Could be lucrative but that deal is for the owners and djs to agree upon. The venue will be table service the gig will be on a Friday or Saturday, for now they want a mobile DJ with own gear to handle it. It's going to be a tasteful affair aimed at the 35/55 age groups i can't do it, as no van and commitments but I said I'd fish around. For more details inbox me and I'll pass numbers and email on. If anyone is interested-maybe inbox me or reply here.- Out in Krakow
I should have asked before I went but are there any other record shops worth dropping into.in Krakowa. I was in Dillaz record store today and picked up some Polish jazz funk..very cheap really, first press mainly...pressings are appearing of old albums but in limited quantae , however they are snapped up by an eager public here on release, ( there are so many sample breaks in the 70s stuff) , so the big Q is/was anywhere else I should squeeze in during my stay. .word up, vintage is getting huge here, Eastern Blok grannies selling their gear and making a killing off it, deffo worth a visit. Just by luck I found another record store, which the former wouldn't recommend to me, Pauls Boutique, in the old Jewish quarter. I was very surprised to find six racks of motown and disco singles, Gordy, nothing much before 1964, someone needs to have a proper rake through it. I put aside two hours, being disciplined for once. Not a great amount, some crackers, Willie Hutch even, but definitely shed loads of 80s hip hop funk (UK boots as you'd imagine) soul and Polish Communist era Jazzfunk, singles and albums. All the singles without exception needed a good wash, and some are slightly off centre -but at 4 zloty a pop whose complaining-mainly albums are repressed which is actually better in many cases as the materials used in the 70s was not of a great quality, I was informed. However I found some original stuff and funky bits of 7s on the Tenpress label from the 80s-worth looking at. Warsaw next time for a couple of days is probably one of my finer ideas.- Ted Massey Robbery Records Stolen
Not good at all that. Hope he recovers from this, aggressive entry to his house, that's heavy sentencing. They could have done much worse. That guy looks ginger, pony tail maybe or thickly crimped/curly hair as for the tattoo doesn't it look about like the outline of a Wolves FC badge, maybe removed or covered over for the robbery? Now that it's been on the BBC all kinds of scumbags will looking at the prices and be saying how f*cking much, and I can see similar crimes unfortunately, maybe people out to tighten up security for a little while. Watch Auction Rooms for any movement as.well, I know boxes have been nicked in recent years at the odd nights but this surely is a first. And yep a high level well planned robbery, not just random. Any idea on the accents.amd descriptions of the other rats- New Sniff Mix With Dougal and The Blue Cat Shenanigan
