  1. Its a weird one mate, never took off massively, but has had sporadic plays over the years, I dont know what JM or Popsike throw up, but I would say about £100 ish depending on condition, however get a second opinion, as my recent estimates have proved to be way out on one thing in particular. Best Russ
  2. Thank you, really appreciate that, dragged mine out last night & more hiss n pop that a full english lol BTW still after a copy of that Ralph Soul Jackson mate if you come across one......still smile when ever I think about that weekend in NC with you, Marco & Brian.....hope you are well buddy. Best Russ
  3. Hi all, need a nice clean copy of this to upgrade my fairly batterd one - pse PM. Many thx Russ
  4. La Familiar Inc is an absolute bargain & at least half price IMO.....someone shoulld snap this up. Best Russ
  5. Bob - I think you contribute fantastically on SS & your radio show is the tops, you obviously also have great knowledge & taste.......but when it comes to the finer etiquette details of the NS scene it must seem quite confusing when reading SS.........reissues/bootlegs/carvers/counterfeits ok for home use & local soul nights, but at the authentic nights tunes should be played from the original format, for many, many years this was just how it was & really most took it for granted, unfortunately in relatively recent times some have decided to do thier own thing to DJ at any cost to the morale code, to justify this they then think of all manner of excuses to justify themselves, the old chestnet ' The dancers dont care' always makes me smile, as its more a matter of personal pride.......shouldnt even have to be discussed. Best Russ
  6. No, cos I dont like it...........regardless of how rare it is. Russ
  7. Was going to comment on one of the DJ's, but cant bring myself to lower the tone out of respect for Ady........what is the rest of the line up any way ?. Russ
  8. Rob Smith.......nothing against any of t'others mind , Russ
  9. With no disrespect intended, that probably says more about you, than it doeas about the records & of course that was partly the intention anyway. Best RUSS
  10. I dont think that anyone has really touched on the fact that just cos you may be lucky enough to own some rare records you may not have paid top wack for em, whilst when I'm a bit flush I may spend more, generally speaking your trying to find good unknowns at a reasonable price that may turn out to be rare when you create the demand through Djing with em !!!......also even if you happen to own a top drawer in demand rariety if your savvy (lucky) enough you will have found it cheaply through diggin, diggin, diggin.....!!!. For most of us, some you have owned for years, others you may have got lucky, others you may pay the going price, its always been about collecting this way for the 'normal' collectors/DJ's. You have to put the work in........even more so these day's. Best Russ
  11. I surrender......... Russ
  12. Me too.......its gonna get messy . Best Russ
  13. Thank you to everyone for your continued contributions - see ya at MonuMENTAL Brett ???. Best Russ
  14. I dont have a sister, but I think there's a naked one of Dave somewhere, its when he had the beard & I could photo shop out his tackle, I'm NOT happy about sharing it, but ho hum, for the Hopkins Brothers I would be prepared to make that sacrifice. . Russ
  15. You shouldnt go to all that trouble just for me Bri.......I'm only expressing an opinion & of course I may be wrong, but I stand by my opinion that it isnt worth what JM got for it & what the copy on ebay went for...... And tell Dave to stop shouting at me . Russ
  16. No, I'll take it of ya hands for a fiver Ady as a favour. If you've found one I'll have it.. Seriously . Russ
  17. I'm laughing because its not worth that, great record, even owned it once upon a time, I dont mind what people pay Dave, but what people will pay on ebay & JM Auction are not generally realistic prices that the same items would fetch in a box at a Nighter. Not selling one are you . Russ
  18. Sorry Pete, wasnt being rude, I remember hauling a 300 box round & it was murder . Russ
  19. I really coudnt be arsed hauling round a 300 box, I have a 100 & a 50, but personally I would not agree to DJ at a venue that I didnt think I was suitable for, having said that I try to carry a mix of things in the 100 count box & would only use the 50 count box if I knew the venue & other DJ's on the rosta very well. I dont think I know anyone that just carries a box of ultra rareities, but what frustrates me is why has the rareity of a record become a down side ?.....many of the top 500 are huge rareities & that seems to be fine, I think what we are talking about here are records people might not know that they perceive to be rare maybe. Russ
  20. You should have robbed a bank mate . BTW I dont think I'm better than anyone. I know you may think people are being a bit hard on you, its not personal though, its just that people have very strong feelings about these things....... Russ
  21. Not saying I would advocate not eating, but these are the lengths people go to to secure good records....I remember many years ago, if all the money had gone on records etc I would be on Faggots for the last week of the month .....sometimes if you want something bad enough (not always records) you have to make sacrifices. Thats why its so wrong to play boots, people have in some cases sweated blood for these things........ Best Russ

  23. In my opinion no more than £400 - £500 tops. Great record BTW. Russ
  24. Good thread & food for thought, but many of tomorrows monster sounds are sitting around in peoples 'tut' boxes for reasonable prices right now at Allnighters & Soul Nights, its about how its always been.......diggin', diggin', diggin & knowledge gained from experience, tenacity & a bit of luck. I honestly believe that you can build a great collection of records for DJing purposes with hard work, as opposed to a large wallet & its far more fun & you gain knowledge, contacts & a bit of a nose for em by doing it this way. Prices are relative, someone back in the early 7ts for example could only dream of buying the top sounds, once they were top sounds...........its more difficult now, but you have to find records in a left field way & be inventive, it also helps if your not chasing Butch's top play, but find your own niche......along the way you might get lucky & find some big oldies too, some you wont like, so you either trade for what you do like or sell & again put the money to towards summat else. There are also forgotten gems out there that are waiting to be re discovered, so CD & MP3 swapping, searching old play lists, listening to old 'live' tapes & chatting to folk at Nighters & record bars will broaden your personal taste as to what you slip under the radar on. Find an unknown or under valued cheapie then buy up a few copies over time & sell em on for a small profit to reinvest. None of this is anything new, it just takes time & patience. Like anything, if you are starting from scratch it will take time & a certain amount of money, but sorry to be boring here, hard work & an ear are more important than just a large wallet. Russ
