  1. I think you're right Tony, I was offered an acetate from the States, maybe mid 9ts, said they were a friend of the label owner or a producer or summat, cant even remember how i even got the contact now, but thought there was something not quite right about it, so left it in the end..... Best Russ
  2. There are several on that list that cross over slightly into the decade before or after, but Butch was definitely playing it, early noughties & I thought occasionally very late 9ts, i could be mistaken though.... Best Russ
  3. Think these are all 9ts bangers....will try n think of a few more...some would have crossed over into the noughties too though I expect... 4. I'd completely forgotten that Dave....bloody brilliant !!! Russ
  5. I agree Jordi, its a top class tune for sure, my only thoughts are that of whether it was a legal re issue or a boot. Hope you are well mate. Best Russ
  6. Yep & then it would be completely knackered as a 'play' record....brilliant, brilliant record, but it has barely scratched the surface with regards to plays. Anways, it did get a release, so hopefully will be left well alone for now. Russ
  7. I cant listen to the YT clip right now, as im at work, but didnt they come from the Las Vegas connection ?...if so i wouldnt hold my breath on them being kosher. Best Russ
  8. Maxine Woon. She's forgotten more than i will ever know & was around dancing to & collecting records when i was an embryo. Mucho respect to the Ladies of Soul.... Russ
  9. I went 2 or 3 years on the trot & other than the social side (there are quite a few Brits etc there), i wasn't that impressed, i always came away with summat, but nothing to write home about really.... Best Russ
  10. I don't get to Nighters quite as often as i would like to these days, due to working abroad, but when i do go out, i quite often hear things i don't know, that i'm personally not keen on, but ya know what, on the whole i can appreciate why others might like them, so i feel blessed that someone is still out there digging deep & pushing the bar...on balance i hear far more things i do like, so on that basis keep on digging & having the bollox to play em out.... Best Russ
  11. I really struggle with folk sometimes, they need to get out of the arm chair n get to a f*ckin nighter...get some Shreddies down ya neck n enjoy ya selves...remember what that was like !. Russ
  12. I was talking about the Music City release John. Russ
  13. E J Rush is brilliant, i would have bid, but actually thought it would go for more & didnt wanna get in a pissing contest, both sides are PROPER IMHO. Best Russ
  14. Whilst its been 'known' for years, it was Marco Santucci that really started giving it a push, its the funkyness of this particualar take that has endeared it to the dancers in the last couple of years...i like all the versions, but this particualar take is the best for current dancefloors & tastes...love it !!! Best Russ
  15. That's why I used to use either a sound engineer or a good friend who knew these things, otherwise we're just winging it really..... Russ
  16. Is there a good mixer out there with a memory card slot, one that could be used for home & proffessional purposes ?. Thanks Russ
  17. This is why until relatively recently, there has been very little photographic footage, no one wanted to be photographed !. Russ
  18. All you need to do is guess who is providing the research & then all becomes clear, I'm not certain by any means, but its a pretty good bet....history has & is being re written, via the media & aimed at the lowest common denominator, the nostalgia oldies crowd, its all about the soul $$$...... Russ
  19. I think we all need to get over it & face up to the fact that there are, were & always have been those that would sell thier soul to the devil for a quick buck, loved the film...but TBH all the other stuff with a few exceptions, is just corporate soul. All the ads n other stuff is down to a few who the media approach for research purposes, they get paid, we get Shredded Wheat & cringy embarrassment....the bubble WILL burst, its just a matter of when & then it'll be left to us again to pick up the pieces & carry on as we always have done...only then will things return to soulful normality.... over n out Russ
  20. OoOOops ok...I take it all back. Russ
  21. I cut an acetate from the CD as soon as i bought it as a new release, always got a great response when i used to play it out. Best Russ
  22. Sorry, are you referring to MMLAHT with regards to that last comment, cos if you are the tune has been played since the Mecca to a fantastic response, Teds only p*ssed off cos he sold his copy & cant get another LOL Best Russ
  23. My WD was £250 in the early 9ts...like David quite rightly states many have a slight hiss through out, which doesnt seem to reproduce over a big system...brilliant record that i cherish & never tire of it.... Best Russ
