when does a ''wanna be'' DJ become a DJ?
Yoda now there is a great DJ. Always breaking new tunes, intermingled with forgotten oldies, and current biggies, yet never retreating into the death star of the 500 empire. His manipulation of the double light sabers alone merits his inclusion in the DJing hall of fame

when does a ''wanna be'' DJ become a DJ?
I think that DJ'ing, if you know what you doing, is purely mathematical, and based on the audience. Most boring audience need to know every record [thankfully never done that one], average every third record needs to be 'known', occasionally, and after thirty years of playing out for money, one in five. One in five. Special nights with special customers. dean

when does a ''wanna be'' DJ become a DJ?
I always thought you had achieved 'DJdom' when you got paid enough money to go out on a Saturday morning and visit every specialist outlet in Manchester, combined with having got Soul bowl list on Wednesday, and bought everything that appeals to you personally...and have money left to pay the bills. Before that obviously all your DJing funds go on records so its not really a professional situation but a hobby. dean

BLACK PEPPER INFO.
BLACK PEPPER 'YOU KEEP RUNNING OUT OF GAS' This is a Roger Hatcher production in the sister funk/wailing woman style that Soul Bowl had as a twelve 25 years or so ago on Golden Wax and was more recently licensed by Sticky Records as a 45 splendidly with a dub reggae record on the other side! Does anyone know if there is an earlier 45 [as it sounds 70's] or was the 12" John had taken from an unreleased tape? dean

FAVE CLUBS FROM THE DECADES?
Just a bit of fun....Can you name your fave club from the 1960's,1970's, 1980's, 1990's, and the Noughties? Obviously if you were only 10 in 1970 then you can't really do the first decade but whatever floats your boat or moves your groove as they say in Blackburn.

Rarest of the rare allnighter 1994
A few things wobbling in to memory about the warm-ups. The Doo In The Loo was the fourth venue [I think] for the pre-nighter warm-up. Firstly it was at South, a proper nightclub I worked Saturdays, but we had to charge and it was quiet a long walk to the Ritz. We also did one at The Waldorf and then a bar across the road from the Ritz which name escapes me, and the manager double booked it, and then the Loo. Strangely more people turned up as the venue got smaller....or that could just be an optical whatsit. dean

Rarest of the rare allnighter 1994
I was responsible for the pre-nighter toilet though others had played soul records mid week before at the doo in the loo.

Unusual Places You Found Imported 45s
Always thought buying records in the middle of the night in a dark, loud, room having consumed half of mild shandy is perhaps not terribly wise.
