  1. The only decent photos I have of the Cuckoo. The first two are from the hills above Capel Curig, Wales 2013 and the third is from the Isle of Mull 2019. A lot easier to hear than to spot and a lot harder to get on a small compact camera at full zoom. One sound I'll miss this while camping and hiking this springtime.
  2. Quite apt for what's happening at the moment, don't you think👍
  3. Chinook just flew over, nearly fell off me ladder 😁
  4. Brilliant 👍I'll dig mine out later
  5. Cheers mate. It's at this time of the year that the cuckoo's start to appear and echo all round the valleys. A great sound around the empty hills but only managed to photo a couple. Last year on Mull there must of been a dozen making a right old racket, a fantastic sound even if you don't spot them 👍
  6. A photo from last year, 21st June the longest day, of the infamous Crib Goch on Snowdon. Missing the mountains at the moment. If you haven't seen it, this is a great live view of Snowdon from the Plas y Brenin mountain centre https://www.pyb.co.uk/live-feeds/
  7. See a few fishing it but more towards oldfield brow, near the old Bay Malton, and up through Dunham to Lymm.
  8. A few from along the Bridgewater canal in Sale today. A local walk/bike ride I do quite often 👍
  9. Flew over our house 3 times today and didn't manage a photo. Apparently it was practising landing and take off as it's very quiet at the moment at the airport. It's also been on training exercise at Southend and Luton these past few days according to Google 👍
  10. We were on the train, 3 weeks last Friday just before they started locking down, when I spotted it out of the window past delamere. To say I was surprised, I had a few strange looks 😁👍
  11. Great spot. like most folk, it's Wales i see them most but I spotted them in Yorkshire and most recently near Chester. Maybe with less traffic, air and road, they and others will be on the march👍 I did see 5 buzzards circling altogether over the fields in this part of South Manchester yesterday
  12. "Bury" is good as well 🙂
  13. OK not photos but my daughter has just sent me this link to some great live webcams if it's allowed here. Loads of nature stuff https://explore.org/livecams/currently-live/decorah-eagles
  14. Quite a gathering. We used to have a lot round here but now it's cats, squirrels and pigeons. Squirrels have been nesting for a number of years and it's good watching the little ones but as for most birds it's a no no now. Quite a few years ago we did have about 20 waxwings in the tree for 5 minutes. 6 miles from Manchester 👍
  15. Enjoyed listening in for a few hours, good stuff to all involved 👍

  17. Looks a good app that, mate. I have the sky map app but doesn't show the pictures like yours, just as dots with their name
  18. Not posted much on here as I've not really been out and about so I thought I'd put up a couple from where I should of been this week. Meribel in the French Alps, part of the 3 Vallees ski resort. Not a skier but as my son worked there we used to go and see him and take in the sights as a non skier. It was great going all over using the ski lifts and on a great sunny day with snow covered mountains was a great escape. A couple with a view of Mont Blanc and one from the apartment we had last year as the snow came in at dusk in Meribel Centre
  19. Talking of soul cruises, just seen this, some nice places to visit with some choons on the decks. https://www.freewebs.com/soulinthehind/soul-cruise-2021?fbclid=IwAR1Bt4_aJN_adwD6mP1zh9_nXJ3PmQdqoHtYArTODWi2slCVdD_ywcKP300
  20. Brilliant. Fantasy fight to anywhere ✈ 😁👍
  21. While the rest of the uk seemed to be in the sunshine, my little corner of south Manchester had fog all day. It was spot the ball in the Sunday league this afternoon ⚽️
  22. Brilliant memories as i was there but haven't a clue to what was played so a great memory jerker. Cant believe the lack of clapping to Do I Love You😮 Had all my tapes nicked from my car in the car park of the Golden Garter in Wythenshawe while watching Edwin Starr. I was concerned about those than my car at the time, probably worth more than the car 😀
  23. Some great video footage on here, it's like a mini time capsule 👍
  24. Sounds like a brocken spectre. I've had a few myself and it's a good thing to see. You see them on planes when you're above the clouds Photo is Crib Goch, Snowdon https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brocken_spectre
  25. I've seen plenty this year as well. In fact, we saw quite a few this morning and afternoon in Wales.
