Ian Levine, Motorcity, Centre City, Blackpool Mecca, And Swons
I'm unsure what difference there is between Ian coming on here talking about his past work and the new DVD to a promoter bigging up his night, saying its the best night ever,"if you don't go you must be a nothing, blah blah". How are people expected to market their soul "product"(for want of a better word) without talking about it on forums like this or have we all suddenly developed a 6th sense? At least this thread is interesting as opposed to inane waffling from events promoters mates about whos bringing the middles, how many more sleeps there are, how Brian from Blackburn can't make it etc etc etc

Post Stafford Classics
Okay maybe there are a few I admit but if you really scrutinised it I bet a lot of em have been played somewhere before 1987?.....oh hang on but if I think again I think I'm getting my dates wrong cos Im thinking of places like Parkers,Tonys.100 etc but of course that's after innit I'm thinking I'm older than I am, he he

Post Stafford Classics
Surely this thread is nigh on impossible (except for the borrowed funk and modern stuff) as surely most things were played somewhere up to and including Stafford?...even if it was only once? Ok I will try a couple but they will probably fit into my previous categories Delegates of Soul Barbara Mason -You better stop Pat and the Blenders...this is a big unsure???

Is This Site Addictive?
Baz you sound worse than me!! My husband complains that I spend too much time on SS and I am more or less banned after 8pm but sometimes I sneak on when he goes for a bath. Is that the SS equivalent of hiding bottles of vodka in the airing cupboard?

Is This Site Addictive?
Maybe we should have an online SSA meeting in the chat room....hang on that's probably defeating the object innit

I like all the old stories myself, the 70s must have been the best time to grow up...everything nowadays is so disposable

Soul Police - The Charge Sheet
Oh no has this turned into another OV/boots/youngsters on the scene thread And it started off so promising as well If only there was a sound button you could press when those subjects came up...instead of report to moderator maybe you could have the family fortunes aggh aggh sound or the siren from QI that they use when Alan Davies gets the question wrong..... Roger and out PC Reg Hollis

- Souled Out The Film
Link??? Can't remember that one- Souled Out The Film
But why are you bothered about what they play in between the dance sequences? Surely it doesn't matter-it isn't a documentary about Wigan Casino. It's a movie about a young lad who finds love against the odds in 1974 with a backdrop of Wigan Casino. I'm sure they played all kinds of music in public places in 1974 so if you want authenticity you should be asking for Slade, Trex etc surely? I am just as anti Duffy etc as the rest of you but they probably just think it will help soundtrack sales if they use these artists for some of the non dancing scenes?- Souled Out The Film
No they didn't Joan. But they did have live scenes with actors pretending to sing. ALthough that was actually more of a biography of the Manchester music scene to be fair. I probably wouldn't have compared it to Souled Out. Although I am with you Joan, got to be original artists for the Casino dancing scenes if its to be authentic- Souled Out The Film
You can't leave now it's all getting exciting Not been this kind of debate since errrrrr the last "youngsters on the NS scene thread".... By the way (on topic) Ipsofacto called me to be an extra on Saturday (I don't remember filling the form in to be honest-must have done it after a few drinkies)....but I can't go as I will be bouncing on a castle and eating birthday cake (possibly at the same time).. Maybe I can practise me backdrops just in case they get really desperate and call me again - Souled Out The Film
