Boxing Night Soul at Holyhead fc, Anglesey ( Yns Mon ) Skipper STEVE THOMAS & crew mates providing the tunes!
  2. Nice n early peeps, is best. Plenty of parking space but, this has the makings of another packer!!, bring your sandwichss, nibbles, mince pies, party hats n streamers....lets make it a pressure cooker atmosphere!!, great tunes across the board...expecting a lot of travellers again too.....well, we're down from Leeds...thats a 260 ml round trip...anybody beat that?. Stopover always a good idea and the accommodation listed is best for close vaccinity to venue and with parking. Lets see out 2022 in style!πŸ˜‰πŸ‘πŸŽ΅πŸ’ƒπŸ•ΊπŸŽΆβοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈπŸŽŠπŸŽ‰πŸΊπŸΊπŸΊ

  5. Shropshire's best and long running Soul Night at the Church, a proper Christmas Cracker this one!, wear your shoe leather out, drink your fill, enjoy the camaraderie, and bring yer packed lunches and party hats even, if it makes you happy!!πŸŽŠπŸŽ‰πŸŽ΅πŸ’ƒπŸ•ΊπŸŽΆβοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈ the spirit will be with us for sure, but get there early to make sure you're part of the traditionπŸ˜‰πŸ‘ A festive sermon of the highest order...πŸ™ Amen to that!!!πŸŽ…πŸŒ²
  6. Just a heads up: checking kn the accommodatioon websites and there are some bargain rooms to be had....just recently the charges have sky rocketed all over...wont repeat quotes fro Premier inn, other than to say, theyve been eye watering just for a room!, however....for whatever reason, some have seen fit to offer at knock down prices for this particular saturday. The Lion Hotel on Wyle Cop, is as good as town centre as you get, with parking as well, but chargeable, rooms are top notch. Travelodge have two outlets at Bayston Hill & Battlefield, both 10 mins from centre and free parking. Premier in is on the riverfront, adjacent to Pride Hill multi storey, think the price is linked to booking a room. Shrewsbury, as ive remarked before, is a great stopover, sight seeing personified, so much to see and do, loads of pubs, restaurants, cafes, independantly owned shops, farmers and craft markets, malls and a brilliant indoor market. There are also Severn riverboat cruises at Frankwell bridge. And last, but not least, a great soul night at THE CHURCH!πŸ˜πŸ˜‰πŸ‘πŸŽ΅πŸ’ƒπŸ•ΊπŸŽΆβββββπŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ Check google maps for all hotel locations, as well as Air bnbs.
  7. Brian Chidley's playlist from 22/10/22, as requested.
  8. Some great snaps from a fabulous night at the Church just recently, a super busy evening with folks from all over. If any one else took any pics and wants to add to this, please do. We move on to this date, as advertised and another great guest and a proper veteran of the Shropshire soul scene, Mr. GARY POWELL. This guy has been prominent at functions throughout the county, including the capital itself, as well as the west mids and further afield, involved in a lot of well established functions over the last 50 years. Top tunes coming your way then, from a much respected dj, and a pleasure it will be to have him play for us!.
  9. All details now listed on soulsource, including whwre the venue is and how to get there. If anyone is looking for a stopover we can provide info on that or check out booking.com/trivago or any of the other sites.
  10. And lots of folk still ringing, asking about tickets...if we could get another 50 in the room, we would for sure but, we're bound by club guidance so, there 200 lucky souls going to have a fab evening...many thanks to you all for showing your support and to anyone who's missed out, our heartfelt sympathy...just keep your eyes peeled for when the next event is announcedπŸ˜‰πŸ‘
  11. First visit for this one, and looking forward to it!πŸ˜‰πŸ‘
  12. NOW COMPLETELY SOLD OUT!πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘
  13. -4 and counting!, the weekend can start right here for all of you who have snapped up the tickets so far....plenty of people viewing the details...if youre thinking of making the trip, purchase is essential for entry...dont sit on the fence!. Always a great selection of raffle prizes as well, making it a worthwhile evening all round. We will see you all there!πŸ˜‰πŸ‘πŸŽ΅πŸ’ƒπŸ•ΊπŸŽΆβββββ
  14. What a fabulous night and 14th Anni as well, a great return to packing them in, from all corners too!, lots of happy, smiley faces, social, drinking and non stop dancingπŸŽ΅πŸ’ƒπŸ•ΊπŸŽΆ Shrewsbury does it right!πŸ˜‰πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘βββββ
  15. Big UP for tonight then, lots of interest as has been all week, hope youre getting yourselves geared up for an anniversary celebration, one of Salop's longest running and most successful venues!, great tunes from start to finsh....cant beat a good sermon on a sa6urday night!πŸ˜‰πŸ‘πŸŽ΅πŸ’ƒπŸ•ΊπŸŽΆ
  16. Has anyone taken the time to think about and reply to the original question? Maybe, with the spoken intro, originally recorded in the 60's it ( Lets Go Somewhere ) was seen as a protest song.. against Nam or just the way the world was at the time? By 74, perhaps Motown in Canada didnt see it as relevant, hence the edit. The record sold nothing on its release in 65, neither did " Ghost " recorded nearly 2 years later...only the fact that it caught on here, in northern circles, lifted it from relative obscurity to a national best seller for Motown in 74. It was certainly a wise idea to team up Taylor's two best offerings on one double header. im not suggesting any favourite intro's because enough have been already, and its taken the rmphasis away from what was originally asked. Any thoughts?, anyone wish to elaborate?πŸ‘.
  17. Pretty gutted personally to not be guesting at this tonight, but its the same sentiments for the promoter/resident djs too. The venue owners appear to have reneged on the booking for tonight, having facilitated a wedding reception & disco instead...completely screwing over, all concerned. Its wholely unacceptable and a disgraceful way to treat Jack, Phil and the lads who've put their heart and soul into this monthly function, for 7 years. But, it is what it is, this regular event on a busy Lancashire calendar, will be sorely missed, as its most likely now its seen its last soul night there. I dont know the people who own/run this place, certainly not like the farnworth crew who communicate with them but it seems to me wholely unprofessional to treat people who pay good money to hire the venue and help to bring revenue into the club, in such a manner...even moreso in the unstable financial climate we face. Every sympathy for ALL concerned and the many soulies far and wide who've made the effort to attend over the years.
  18. Anyone needing directions?, refer to satnav and you'll be looking at thisπŸ˜‰πŸ‘
  19. Yourhost for the evening, Denise, and two likely lads, if ever there were!🀣🀣 Stephen Crawshaw, on the right, and me on the left!πŸ˜‰πŸ‘

  21. Just over a week to go, and another great night out to look forward too!, if you havent got tickets dont leave it too late ( no admission on door or without ticket ). This event has sold out on every occasion its been held and its a cracking room that its held in, very friendly, very comfortable. Steve and i will deal with any record requests as we can so please, do come up and ask!. Its a lovely dancefloor to so, we ask: please dont use any talc, as itll be polished enough! This is strictly over 18's of course, no smoking policy in force and as its a residential area, please use the adjacent carpark, not in the street itself, patrons are asked to leave the premises quietly at the close, Bar til Mid night.
  22. Lot of folk giving this a view which is encouraging....full on dancefloor classics across the board, so no fear of not hearing a favourite or 3...and with it looking like a blank page on events in the w.mids, the focus is on soulies getting theirselves up the m54 for a great night out....and we'd like to see plenty of the shropshire regs, and folk from n.wales, cheshire and even great manc are most welcome!. 3 days to go, and its building up to be a great weekend!πŸ˜‰πŸ‘βββββπŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸŽ΅πŸ’ƒπŸ•ΊπŸŽΆ
  23. Snap poll: of everyone who's viewed the thread and decided theyre gonna come, let us know how far youre travelling. We're coming down from Leeds, via Farnworth ( Bolton ) on a friday so, its gonna be close to 280ml.
  24. Steve and i will have some cracking tunes lined up, across the board covering Motown, rnb, Northern, youth club classics, 70's disco...request welcome..if we've got it, we'll play it!... This venue is just off Crossgates high street, it has ample parking, but we request please be early as spaces, and table space will fill quickly due to demand. We look forward to the pleasure of your company for yet another worthwhile occasion so, make sure youre ready to! rip the floor up!πŸŽ΅πŸ’ƒπŸ•ΊπŸŽΆπŸ˜‰πŸ‘βββββ
