Reddington's Selling Up
last time i went there , was probably 99' couldn't believed it had moved from it's original sight and in a basement at that. so all i laid my hands on was a box of motown records...i pulled out a u.k. issue of "no one there" - martha reeves..£3...i think this tune had just broke big at the time...took it to goodyears and it promptly cleared the floor!! moral of the story: then as now, there will always be slow learners..used to love the shops in the bullring mind.

Itv Motown Sunday 9Pm
no funk brothers - no motown....simples!...but then we've already had their highly acclaimed award winning documentary and they got their long overdue recognition.....no one can ever take that away from them...they gave us the unique sound of motown without which, the artists would not have had the same dynamic....god bless jamerson, benjamin, white, van dyke, willis, jones, griffith, allen, babbit, messina, hunter, ashford and all those other wonderful contributors who created magic in the snake pit and gave us the soundtrack of our lives.

Bobby Womack R.i.p
"me being from the old school, i would not say 'bitch' on a record", he said. " i couldn't face my mother if i did". ........Bobby Womack...the gospel singer at heart. 2 extensive commentaries in the Chicago tribune & New York times.

Bobby Womack R.i.p
the age of grieving, my friends and fellow soul lovers is well and truly upon us...not just amongst our own kind, but the artists we revere....and it is falling hard and fast. bobby womack, a quintessential giant who bridged the decades with a philosophy that never wavered, whose music spoke volumes..now plays to a celestial audience with an ever burgeoning appreciation. an utterly devastating hammer to fall, just the same, another void that will never be filled in our mortal lives. may his soul rest in eternal peace, but lord, let his gospel ring out in heaven..amen.

- Darrell Banks - Open The Door To Your Heart 2014 London
totally unsurprised, as everyone else on here should be, that 300 post has almost been reached, such is the enormous publicity this has created, what a truly remarkable story about a unique historical document, if it's okay to use that description. i think that a good many of us punters are awakening to the genuine possibility of this disc achieving a world record price, assuming it does come up for sale/auction and many are slowly, but surely, edging toward the mark i was thinking which would be £30k...such a price has to be taken seriously and there are people on this planet who won't even blink at the necessity of acquiring it.....just looking at the picture is enough to blow anyone's mind, to see IS to believe and it's taken HALF of our lifetimes ( as in 50/60 somethings ) to obtain the final proof. the chances are, if nick does decide to sell, it may disappear from sight again..what a shame that would be...unfortunately, it is a possibility we may have to live with.- Darrell Banks - Open The Door To Your Heart 2014 London
"has" chalky...as in the present tense.- Darrell Banks - Open The Door To Your Heart 2014 London
not unless, as the guy said, they worked at the decca pressing plant, that person obtained it, more than likely as a file copy and from the description of what else was purchased from the deceased's estate, the chap was selecting stuff randomly. it's rareity is beyond question, regardless of the fact it's a known record...if anyone is still alive who was in a somewhat privilaged position and similar circumstances then the chances are other copies may have surfaced by now....we've just witnessed a 48 year miracle, the possibility of lightning striking twice isn't beyond the realms because we have seen that happen with other "grails" but this has gravitas that confounds comprehension...it's value quite simply, outweighs those of recent discoveries..the desire to own this will be of immense proportions, and it is still one of the greatest double-a sided records ever produced, a timeless dancer, a magical slice of detroit in it's hey day and a blistering vocal, signifying darrell banks awesome talent....- Bob Abrahamian R.i.p
both articles are fascinating and insightful, more's the pity that even the accreditors weren't as close to him as perhaps even they thought they were,..that the real man had such tension & anxiety bottled up as to be indistinguishable from his persona...from what's been said on here in the wake of what we know now, a good many of us feel the same, that we see the vital signs when it's too late. hindsight is an interminable millstone round all our necks...but perhaps, when all is said and done, bob's soul was just too good for this world...we REALLY DO never know what we've got til it's gone...as god is our judge, it must be for a greater good..may it be recorded here, amongst all members, that the 5th of june, 2014 be remembered with solemnity.- Bob Abrahamian R.i.p
amen to that, glyn- Motown Box Set Vol 2
for the record,..universal weren't happy with the quality of the test pressings and had the set remastered. any other changes, i am pleasantly surprised by as should you all be. the isley brothers track has been available for 5 years now....the only legitimate unreleased track on the double anthology cd. i put richard onto bryan wells, who just happens to be the co-writer of this dynamic dancer..( along with the late ron miller ) he was completely gob smacked that the track had finally got recognition. oh, and just to confirm, it IS richard who has put this comp together again!...- Bob Abrahamian R.i.p
god preserve and keep us all....i'm moved to tears at the response alone here...the world has become so much smaller for the fact we have shared one common denominator throughout yet never pronounced it universally til now....our love, affection and appreciation for an enlightened soul who, perhaps, we would all strive to be. it puts into stark perspective how brief mortality can be...the good die young,...was there never more a damning adage? for what it's worth i think the suggestion of permanently archiving his life's work, is an astute and profound observation, i concur it should take place at the earliest opportunity..let it be so...i'm sure it would be bob's dearest wish and a fitting testament to the esteem in which he was held and the charisma that will shine and resound for years to come.- Bob Abrahamian R.i.p
yet another one who only knew of him on here, not personally....the irony is, people forge friendships and understandings, on this faceless page and amongst our likes, bob, was a great orator...you get the feel for who the real sparks are, those who are on the same wavelength. bob appreciated informed comment and opinion...feather in your cap if he tipped a nod to your articulation. guess we have to pick up the pieces and carry on gaining a greater understanding of the music and it's contributors without his enormous input..his ilk are becoming fewer with each passing year...his mantle is passed on suddenly..like the artists we have admired who have passed on, his light has moved to a higher plain.....some serious librarian upstairs now! god rest your soul, bob. - Darrell Banks - Open The Door To Your Heart 2014 London
