I am right in thinking that Curtis came over to one of the early Southport weekenders and brought half a dozen copies of the hardest part with him ?? must be late 80's when he came ???? Anybody confirm ?
  4. Only just got in on this thread back to the original point ? Requests My favourite stories both come from Chesterfield first one we were doing a very quiet Thursday night session at the Adam & Eve around 1988 ish about 20 people in playing current Northern & some oldies from the time. A young girl walks up and requests some "house music" I explained that it was a Northern night and got a Gob full of abuse back. Half an hour later she's back asking for house music again, so i say (whilst playing Jock Mitchell ) this IS house music......I always play it at my house...........no more trouble ! Then at The Hollingwood a young lady asked me for "You've got to have a man inside you ".......so I says I don't know it, she says you played it last month and starts singing Tyrone Barclay "Man of value" !!!!! By the way would love to go to a do with all young DJs all evening they haven't been coorupted yet !!

Gary Welsh had TWO copies of Joseph Webster at Bradford back in the late 80s and no one wanted it !!!(including myself ughhhhh)
  11. Did you get any of the others ? it played about 60 seconds of each on mine !
  12. I think that when this turned up in the 80s (?) Ian Clark had something to do with it and maybe getting it re-pressed very soon after the original(very small) first press, there is also a LOU Ragland connection with the disc as i think it originates from Cleveland Ohio and may have been done just before lou moved to Las Vegas. For what its worth I have never seen the "orig" and my copy plays the way it should !
  13. Just had an e-mail off GWEN OWENS she has a new Gospell Cd out this week, there are some sound bites on this link, the first three tracks belt along--one to watch i think ! I'm sending you some info on my Gospel Groups New CD. You can listen to seconds of each spng on www.cdbaby.com/melodious. The attachement is in Microsoft Work format.
  14. What was the name of the sex change record dealer who used to have the stuffed parrot in a cage behind his stall ? Prehaps most Northern soul bloke types are a bit weary of a femme fetal as they all seem to say "Me missus don't like the music and don't understand me talking bollocks about records all night" Enjoy it while you can !
