  1. As far as I remember - it was actually played for ages, after Richard dropped it someone else picked it up (Pat Brady?) but by then I'd jacked it in. But even at the time - I can't remember anyone ever saying they liked it
  2. The Creations - Oh Baby - Globe Male harmony soul at it's best - apart from the middle bit where they forgot to turn on the one guy's microphone
  3. Well I couldn't find the Grapevine article but I didn't realise Mike still had some of my articles on there from 1997! So if you want a laugh, this link goes to the worst 50 northern records ever released in the UK... https://www.soul-source.co.uk/artic...le.php/c2/12120
  4. At the risk of repeating stuff, I wrote an article about Grapevine for Record Collector in the early 90's and John Anderson commented on various records about how he got the rights etc, if I can find it I'll link it..nah, thought it was on my website but obviously not, though I was sure I'd posted it up. Unless it was used on the old Soul Source or maybe Night Owl.
  5. Almost - Bob Seger System
  6. Definitely in the worst 10 records ever played at Wigan
  7. That Monclairs record is FANTASTIC. Never forget when I tried to buy it, I thought it was going to be like 200 quid or something. Brilliant track.
  8. There could be something in that. Although of course they are scattered all around the country (and the world) now. I bought most of them from Pep's shop as new releases...lost interest towards the end though.
  9. Sorry, thats bollocks. It makes no difference what was in there or not - I knew what was in there and I'm not complaining about that (there was a Change Your Ways in there) - it's the fact that 80% of them are not in the condition described and are unusable.
  10. There's only Al Williams, Nabay and Duke Browner that are hard in my 'experience'
  11. Dave, here's a link to a post from nearly 18 months ago, about the same person /index.p...;f=1&t=6392
  12. Your brain looks like a pea
  13. And here's the bootleg - tough one to spot!
  14. They actually got him did they? Any idea how? he actually left me negative feedback for complaining that he'd not sent me 500 dollars worth of records! Great news that he got done though.
  15. No, just them - I mean, they had the well known punk/new wave version at the time if you know what I mean. I never heard Devo do it...though they did do Workin In The Coalmine..
  16. She must have played twice - I think the first was january 78, I watched it from the balcony - but Cecil Washington wasn't played until after I'd stopped going, neither was Don Ray, so she must have made a second appearance in 79. Actually Mark I've got a tape of it as well but it's got the date on so probably easier to find that out.
  17. I think the name was Van Noy or Vannoy
  18. Dave if he operated on ebay, I might have been done by him as well. I'll remember the name in a minute.
  19. I bought this job lot of records and they weren't cheap - plus I had to add over 100 dollars postage - https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...00834%26fvi%3D1 now if you read the description it says "Conditions run the range from Near Mint to Good with most being VG to Near Mint". Well there are actually less than 50 records which are even sellable, possibly 10 are mint and they are all reissues, there are a few VG's but the majority are FAIR to GOOD. Useless in fact. I have written to the seller and complained, this is his reply "I have sold over 1/2 dozen lots of similarly mixed grade 45s and have received positive feedback on every one. You are the first to voice a complaint, and again I feel it to be a bit unfair. I suggested in the auction text that the winner could sell off or trade what they didn't want. And coupled with the exchange rate discount you enjoyed by paying in dollars instead of pounds due to the weak dollar, and the number of readily sellable 45s in the lot, your chances of coming out ahead in the end is very positive". So any advice as to what I should do please? Do I have grounds for a complaint via paypal?
  20. Eddie & The Hot Rods Ken
  21. I know all about screaming baby syndrome but I got away lightly last night...only an hours worth
  22. Sorry Adam, I thought Simon was making it know to everyone that he had a collection of them for sale and they were fair game to anyone making an offer..
  23. Don't be like that, I've got loads of them you can buy for next to nothing..
  24. Can Mike phone me please re Dena Barnes - just missed you on the phone but am back now (9.55am)
  25. That might be a freak Ebay price at one time. Most of the Grapevine's are worth 5 or 10 each. Trust me, I sell them week in week out. I just Ebayed a demo of Flame & King, it went for less than 20 quid, and thats supposed to be "£50". You may see Grapevines on lists for 25's and 30's but do they ever sell? Simon, when you say they are in RCA demo sleeves, are you counting those as actual demos? If all your 45's marked D are proper demos, I'll be willing to make you an offer, cash or/and trades, seeing as my complete set was stolen by someone I will be perfectly happy to name by PM.
