The chap who wrote it, Bob Stanley, does know his onions, he wrote a brilliant book on the history of pop Yeah Yeah Yeah, he formed the band Saint Etienne and made one of the greatest records of the 90's, he advises on various music programs and I saw my first ever copy of Don Gardner Is This Really Love at his house, he does know what he is on about.

Boots - second issues - same thing! I can guarantee you that in the 70's, very few people asked whether records pressed were legal reissues. They were known across the board as 'pressings'.

Yes, all of them, going back to Gypsy Woman which was on a blue HMV issue. That's a really rare R&W. Got one in the very early days of ebay for about £8.

They are beautiful, as are the pink and silver Verve demos. Still prefer red and white's of everything though. Cal Tjader on UK Verve r & w demo, that's a beauty.

Most of these records were made to be played on 60's record players and stereos. Not posh high end hi fi systems. That's why I'm perfectly happy to play mine on a Dansette as well as a Stanton.
