  1. You could be right. Lots of records sound ten times better loud. But I just played Time Marches On and it still tugs at the heartstrings and sounds as good on the mp3 as it did at the casino. That was 37 years ago though. My God.
  2. Slim Smith below - got it on Island last week and unbelievably found the first copy I've seen on Escort 3 days later
  3. Oh my goodness I forgot this one..the original 1966 version https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ZOJrKwHGfc
  4. Prince Buster productions apparently!
  5. Sounded f*cking brilliant at Wigan with a thousand people clapping to it...
  6. The backing to that track is fantastic, that's the exact thing I love, very early uptempo reggae, except the vocal is terrible, wish it was just an instrumental - who is it?
  7. It won't be Johns record for sale, someone will have asked him to auction it and obviously he can't control what people want to pay for a record.
  8. No quite sure what he was accusing him of if anything, he said 'rip off' but I didn't quite get what he was aiming that at.

Well I know the seller who I won it off was gutted when he saw the price! Fair do's though, still sold it me.

The strange world of Northern Soul again...I bought this a month back...hardly any other bidders...maybe everyone missed it https://www.ebay.co.u...984.m1439.l2649
  11. Good call. Musical torture.
  12. The one on the site isn't mint but is £150?
  13. I Wasn't talking about Sandy Golden in that reference above. I was talking about other records mentioned by the gentleman in the past which I don't like, mainly crossover records. I said I didn't like Buddy Smith because it was dull, the bit about the first line was a joke. Do try and keep up... p.s. are you now my official stalker seeing as you're so interested in what I like and don't like? I don't like garlic / west bromwich albion / winter / mushrooms / the BBC for a start
  14. You know what, I thought Lester was long departed! I thought Johnny Moore was the last one to go then there were none.
  15. How many members are left?
  16. Thanks Chris. Actually it was a bit weird because the first two tracks I recorded are missing! Prince Buster - Too Hot and The Wailers - Rude Boy have to put them on the next one
  17. The first two programs have been brilliant, but now that you've told me Trevor Nelson is going to be on tonights show, I don't think I'll bother.
  18. I wonder if they even care if they do or not?
  19. However. What I would say is, if you had say £2000 spare, you could put together a really good collection of decent sounds, you could buy originals and reissues but there are records on there that a few years ago were 40 or 50 quid and are now 15/25 quid, and it's weird because a lot of pressings I sold for 10/15/20 are on there for a fiver...the overall quality is terrible but if you can read inbetween the cracks and you've got some dosh, I'm sure you could build up a collection. You wouldn't get invited to dj anywhere though
  20. It was actually a joke hence the laughing smiley!
  21. Not sure what you mean about Googling it Nev but as far as I know, this has nothing to do with the website of the same name or the owners of it or whatever..if thats what you meant
  22. Not really - your three records were rubbish!
  23. OK I'll at least try and explain why I don't like the Buddy Smith record, apart from the fact that it's so dull. It's the first line. He appears to be singing a word or words that nobody has actually invented for the first couple of seconds of the vocal. A record like Dusty Wilson - Going To Be A Tragedy, from the same time, same place, probably same musicians and taken at the same pace but so thrilling...we can't all like the same thing
