Buying Bluebeat Records In The 60S
That LP must have sold thousands of copies, they kept it in print in the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's. The hardest ones seem to be the blue sleeve version.

Dave Newman - Make Up Your Mind - Look Records
Don't know - Kev Roberts (or might have been IL) interviewed Freddie Chavez, who said that he was indeed Dave Newman...

Dave Newman - Make Up Your Mind - Look Records
I remember Tim Ashibende had a few blue stock copies of this, they looked superb, hard record to sell though for some reason. Dave Newman is Freddie Chavez by the way.

Dave Newman - Make Up Your Mind - Look Records
There are two boots of this so you have to be careful. The most common one has a pronounced dip before the centre hole, if you've ever seen the first boots of Idle Few, Anderson Bros, Candi Staton, you'll see it. The second one is s superb counterfeit and I think I've only seen it once. Thinner than the previous one. I'm pretty certain it's got PB in the run off

Buying Bluebeat Records In The 60S
There are hundreds about, honestly, but they are not demos in the sense of the description that we know them for (promotion copies for radio stations) they are white lanbel pre-releases available to sound system operators who paid a premium to have the exclusive tunes weeks before they saw an official release. Typically they look like the pic on the link below but often have even less info on them https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RARE-BLANK-ERIC-CLARKE-BRAND-NEW-CAR-FAB-272A-ITS-NEW-EX-/330835114035?pt=UK_Records&hash=item4d074f3833

Putting A Price On Something ?
Those sort of things are impossible to price. Not disputing that they are ultra rare, it's just finding someone who wants it. About 5 years ago a load of these test pressings of French ep's turned up on ebay, I bought a couple (still have one Motown one) but haven't benn able to sell it even at £20...so in answer to your question..I would value it at about £50.

Just Arrived In The Post (Or Just Bought)
Sounds crazy but I've only ever bought that record for it's B side, Never In A Million Years (inst), one of the best instrumentals ever...A side is great also but prefer the B.

Buying Bluebeat Records In The 60S
Blue Beat issued 403 singles before changing it's name to Fab, they issued another couple of hundred Trojan - 3 or 400, but they controlled so many other labels which issued between 1 and 150 titles so there must be another 1000 there. Island around 500* singles on the white then red and white label. *(actually I think it's 460 singles)

Marvellos - Your Little Sister
I listed one twice last week!

Once again, I wasn't talking about your record, I was talking about the fact that Dobber said that £180 is 'cheap', £180 is a lot of money whether it's spent on a record or anything else, so it's not 'cheap' and to many people it's a weeks wages. I thought the price for your record was probably spot on to be honest.

Moses Smith - Try My Love
It's not a lookalike, this is the only release of it - go ahead and try and find one. I bet you £10 I get £75 for it.
-
Moses Smith - Try My Love
Yes I have Ralf but you won't want to pay what I'm going to ask for it. Have a look at the "Look at your box" section, I posted a question about it only last night, asking how much I should be charging for it.

Ken Boothe / Messengers - Is It Because I'm Black
THE MESSENGERS - IS IT BECAUSE I'M BLACK - MIRTO EX This is the same record that was auctioned recently but with a different artist credit, it's actually Ken Boothe and this is the same identical record that came out on Trojan, I don't know why they changed the name of the artist. Have one mint minus and one EX-, it crackles a little on the intro and has one or two little pops but is absolutely fine £35 and £25 respectively

No you're missing the point I was making, it wasn't about the record, it was just describing something priced at £180 as being cheap - £5 is cheap when you've got no money!
-
Joey Gee
It's just referring to the figure of £180 as being cheap!

Moonlight Music {In} You?
Yes by about a 20 to 1 ratio

Moonlight Music {In} You?
Pretty sure the original title is a misprint.

Record Grading In 2013
People aren't like that anymore though, it seems to me that half the people who buy records are out to try and con the sellers, on Ebay I mean - they'll look at a record under a microscope to find a flaw then complain about it to try and get money off. I sold a cd on Amazon, the cd was actually unplayed, it was £2.99, the buyer put in a complaint and I swear to you this is true, it can be seen on my feedback "there was one spoke missing from the centre of the cd case which spoilt my enjoyment of the cd"

Record Grading In 2013
I think if you are honest and actually take time to explain a grade which might not make a lot of sense at first, then there shouldn't be any problems. I've got a copy of a record I am about to sell, Patti Austin - Someone's Gonna Cry - Coral demo. The record is in mint condition, it looks unplayed and it sounds perfect. But it has one flaw. A f*cking great storage warp. So obviously my grading would be "Mint Minus, plays mint but has a large storage warp which does not affect play". I would also reduce the price from £125 to £75 because of the warp. So for the sake of a warp, someone gets £50 off and is hopefully happy!
