  1. Be fascinated as to what the Paul Parfitt demo looks like, seriously - never heard of one, just issues with a press release.
  2. Someone I know was so impressed with my photographs of me destroying the Carstairs 45 in various dastardly ways that he sent me a £5 note with a message asking me to destroy a copy of Barnaby Bye and make sure I take photos. I am not kidding. I haven't done it yet.
  3. Rocksteady is completely built around walking bass lines so that person is not making sense to me...he must mean early reggae, 68 style

  5. I've had a couple on MIracle with that on as well, like Jimmy Ruffin - someone on here did explain it but I can't remember who or where.
  6. Oh God I bought that when it came out, or not long after, I was going through a stage of collecting the Stiff label but most of them turned out to be disappointing with a few exceptions. Binky Baker was Anne Nightingale's husband I think, what a mental record.
  7. I sold one of "Torture" last year at a ridiculously low price, serves me right for not checking it's history
  8. Yeah that was the 4th anniversary mate, started his spot with Lou Ragland and it was a bit downhill from there to be honest, he also played The bellboys for the first time, I took the tape into the shop the next week and asked him what it was and he didn't know
  9. Surely all the classic Mirwoods were big in the 72-74 period, why would Oh My Darlin suddenly go big in 1980? I'd got it in 1975 from the tv repairman in our village and he was a Cats regular so they obviously used to play it there.
  10. Benji ignore me. I was thinking of the red issue of the vocal by Ronnie & Robyn.

The entire series is on Youtube - or was, I downloaded the lot but it was poor quality and to be honest I was bored after 1 episode. Agree with you about the girl by the way!
  12. Yeah £600 apparently, though if you tried to get that you'd have it for the next 30 years as well.
  13. Good for you Des for not jumping on the auction bandwagon and tripling the price of something just because some lunatic pays way too much for it in an auction.

Yeah it's 81 or 82, I've actually still got the original vhs tape of that recorded directly off the tv (not by me, I didn't get a video til 83)
  15. That was on my dvd as well - the one where a guy is dressed as a postman - it's a fashion spread basically set to Northern
  16. All these clips are on that Northern Soul on DVD volume 1 I did - I wonder how many copies of that are in circulation now, must be in the thousands.

p.s. it's not in the schedule on their website for some reason

I've been watching a few shows on this channel lately, punk, indie, 1979, 1980 and 1981, I have to say I really enjoyed them, although they used a lot of obvious choices they also had a few lesser seen selections like Squeeze - Is That Love and Teardrop Explodes - Passionate Freind, neither of which I remember seeing before. A lot of their videos look like old copies as if they are playing of a vhs tape. And yep, I've seen the advert for the Northern Soul and Motown show on sunday night. I'll tape it but not holding my breath for anything radical this time.
  19. Laurel's long gone though Ady unfortunately. Can't work out how Cherry Red ended up with the publishing though.
  20. It was this one from yesterday https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/7-inch-CONFUCIOUS-DON-DRUMMOND-/280958617043?pt=UK_Records&hash=item416a7045d3#ht_500wt_1182
  21. When you right click an ebay photo now it only allows you to save as 'webpage complete'
  22. Last ones I saw were the ones below which look superb in my opinion, could pass off as an original 60's issue. Only trouble is, I don't know who made them...
  23. Can't download the photos off ebay anymore otherwise I would be happy to
  24. Disinfect before playing! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/REGGAE-GEORGE-DRIFTER-JA-ORIG-RUF-TUF-DENNIS-WALKS-NEXT-CUT-/200818868626?pt=UK_Records&hash=item2ec1bcc192#ht_936wt_1414
  25. You're all forgetting the one record that bought more people onto the scene than any other - love it or hate it, it had a massive impact, most people didn't stay but some did and that's the important thing...the record was... FOOTSEE
