  1. I was wearing a vintage Harrington today, does that count? Even my daughter commented on how nice it looked
  2. Oh and talking about Jackie Trent doing Motown covers - what about the earliest, her version of The One Who Really Loves You recorded for Oriole circa 1963. This version is brilliant and super rare, I've had one copy ever, a demo, sold that in 1992 not had a sniff of one since.
  3. Yeah I remember doing that article, it was in 1988 I think, I really did a lot of research though (there was no internet) and came up with stuff that people didn't really know back then (Cyan Three, Ray French, that sort of thing), I reckon even now there are only a handful of releases missing. I think I might have that LP as well Dave (though I often get my Jackies and Petulas mixed up, and I also think Petula did Reach Out on an LP) but as far as I know there is no single of it by JT.
  4. Thats a great record as well actually.
  5. Some people still do apparently
  6. That still needs tweaking though Mick, I'd like to be able to just do a search for artist / format or label / format, but on the page that you linked to, a search for the word Derrick bought up not just artists but anything with the word Derrick (producers, writers etc). Just think that whole site is a bit messy.
  7. But you have to keep going back and clicking on 7" every time you do a search right, I can't do that one search then go to the search box, put another artist in and get it to search under the same criteria? Oh look never mind, it's all overpriced same as ebay anyway.
  8. Thanks everyone.
  9. Thanks Eddy I'll try that now
  10. I don't appear to be seeing that I'm afraid, can you follow this link and tell me where it is? https://www.discogs.com/sell/list?q=alton+ellis&format=Vinyl&more=year
  11. I must be missing something but I can't work out how to narrow a search down to 45's. You can search by fomat "vinyl" but there don't appear to be any subsections so you have to see all vinyl including lp's and 12". is it that right?
  12. Doubt it. Don't know why it was released here to be honest.
  13. Yes you only have to see the sales figures for some reggae records - Pat kelly's How Long on Gas supposedly sold 40,000 copies and never charted for instance
  14. No I"m not knocking it - the music on the pirates was fabulous - just that their charts often bear no relation to the national charts because of the payola.
  15. Sally Sagoe came out with a picture sleeve. She was in Eastenders when it started...
  16. Half the records in the pirate radio charts were there because of payments to the DJ's, that's a well known fact, David Bowie's manager Ken Pitt gives a good account of how it all worked in his autobiography, when hyping the first Pye 45 into the charts in 1966. That's why you see really obscure records that didn't dent the national charts appear in the top pirate radio charts. And lots of these hyped records were actually brilliant but couldn't get played anywhere else.
  17. By the way I saw a pair of these "reissued" Solatio shoes the other day, they look f*ck all like the originals, they've put really thick soles on them for s start and the criss cross pattern is wrong.
  18. The people who had beer towels simply had them to mop up sweat at nighters.
  19. No never seen an issue, but I did have the UK album by the Amazing Dancing Band, that was a black label. I sell the demo for £30 by the way. Think Mick Smith might have one at that price too, or £40.
  20. The one that half the people still don't believe exists... https://cgi.ebay.co.u...3#ht_500wt_1156 in fact that may not actually be the rare bootleg, it looks more recent to me - anyway, it doesn't have a stamped matrix so hope nobody pays the going rate

Tell them to look out for when I get one then. It'll be £40, which is all it's worth. I don't know anyone who's paid anything like that price you quote and I've sold half a dozen. Proper ones.
  22. This might be the one on an Avco 45 - only one or two copies known? Can't remember the details, sorry.

That's great news for him, bad news for the buyer...

Well personally I'd love to know anyone who rates Eddie Parker on Ashford at that price! Don't think I"ve ever sold one over £40.
