  1. Not as far as I can remember Dave
  2. No that was called Kingston to Detroit - half ska, half soul - that was a podcast I did, think it's still up there definitely not Trinidad (Pete Smith The Calypso years)
  3. Ah see what you mean.
  4. Mick I can guarantee you I have never sold anything made in Trinidad. I've never sold white label cd's either. I've sold cd's...where they just white cd's?
  5. Pete, don't think I knew your brother but my condolences for your loss
  6. Correct. Trod on the f*cker.
  7. Nor me, but I was once...when I lived in Hastings, this was way back in about 2000, some guys were putting on an event in the town and asked me if I wanted to do a spot for them, I said yeah sure, anyway when they printed the posters it said "Pete Smith, Planet records, ex-Wigan Casino" so I said, er, I never DJ'd at Wigan Casino or even claim to have, and the guy said "Yes but you went didn't you, that's good enough"
  8. They are, but are 10 of them worth £450? More like £75..
  9. That guy is earning more than me selling pressings with stuck on labels than I am selling originals

  11. Not sure, I definitely had a Canadian one - but if I said I had one, I did have one. I had a lebanese Earl jackson once..
  12. Rip off! You can post 3 records for the price of 1 so that extra 50p is extortion. As I have mentioned - 3 x 45 in a mailer with two pieces of cardboard costs £2.34 I charge £2.50 so I get 16p back
  13. Just to say that Discogs have removed the feedback now for me. Cheers everyone.
  14. Finland is usually £8.60 as well...for one or two items
  15. Your copy now residing with Mr. Levine Chalky...
  16. Two words that make me want to throw up
  17. I drive to the post office every day. Otherwise I couldn't get mail sent. I don't think it would go down to well if I put on my lists "have added £2.50 on for you to pay for my petrol", so if seller is charging £2.50 every time he sells a record, he's getting an awful lot of free petrol!
  18. Where do you get those plastic stiffeners from Mace, and do they work out cheaper than card ones?
  19. It was - theres no such thing as a Diamond WD - and then they did it again on a really good lookalike..
  20. Nothing wrong with complaining about it, I moan about it all the time, if I can send THREE records for £2.34 then everyone else can. Who is charging £5 for 1st class post? Just don't deal with them...

  22. Got a right d*ck on Discogs my message to Discogs I had a record for sale, plainly stated as an unofficial release; a buyer contacted me and asked me if it was a reissue or an original. I told him it was 100% reissue/bootleg and that I would not sell a reissue and pretend it is an original. Today I find he has left me neutral feedback because "he bought the wrong version". Now what fault is it of mine that he bought the wrong version? I was honest in my description, and I also confirmed to him in writing exactly what the record I was selling was. Are you able to remove this feedback or am I stuck with it? details are below: 192422865 Bobbi Lynn — Earthquake / Opportunity Street (7", Single, Promo, Unofficial) (Elf (2) — 90,009) Media Condition: Very Good Plus (VG+) Sleeve Condition: Not Graded Paper scuffs but excellent plus £12.00 Q: Hi,your ad says unofficial promo, does that mean a boot or is this original?. I would only wish to buy if on orig.demo, thanks My Answer: Peter, no it’s exactly that — unofficial = bootleg. I wouldn’t try and pass off a boot as an original. Original will cost 30 or 40 quid. I have a UK Stateside demo original but not on US. cheers pete The feedback he left for me: Record was not the issue I required WELL WHY DID YOU F*CKING BUY IT THEN???
  23. Presenting a decade’s and a half's worth of Jamaican sounds, from the 1961 proto-Ska of Derrick & Patsy to the early 70’s DJ style of Dennis Alcapone and Tony King…I also found a Shocks Of Mighty version by Sir Collins which I’d never even heard of before so I included that — with all manner of Ska, Rocksteady and Reggae inbetween, plus a recent release, and a nice medley from Desmond Dekker to end with. Nearly everything here is first time on podcast for me, there are a couple from the one I did at New year but they fit in well with this one so I used them again. All taken from vinyl and mixed live so one or two will have good old surface noise… DERRICK & PATSY — FEEL SO FINE ROLAND ALPHONSO — THE PRESIDENT THE SKATALITES — TWO FOR ONE RITA MARLEY & THE SOULETTES — ONE MORE CHANCE BUSTERS ALL STARS — VERA CRUZ (ALT) LEE KING PERRY — FEEL LIKE JUMPING BUSTERS ALL STARS — LION OF JUDAH NORMA FRAZER — EVERYBODY LOVES A LOVER BUSTERS ALL STARS — CAST YOUR FATE TO THE WIND TOMMY McCOOK — WINDFALL THE BASSIES — CHECKING OUT ROLAND ALPHONSO — ROLLIE POLLIE THE PROGRESSIONS — FAIR DEAL BOBBY AITKEN — SWEETS FOR MY SWEET DERRICK MORGAN — SOFT HAND GLEN & LLOYD — RUDIES GIVE UP HUGH GODFREY — MAD WORLD THE INVADERS — SOULFUL MUSIC KEN BOOTHE — HOME HOME HOME DENNIS ALCAPONE — HOME VERSION THE LYRICS — A GET IT ROLAND ALPHONSO — WOMEN OF THE WORLD SLIM SMITH — LONELY LOVER SOUL VENDORS — MUSICAL HAPPINESS THE TECHNIQUES — I’M IN THE MOOD FOR LOVE LARRY & ALVIN — YOU’RE CHEATING HEART DILLINGER — JOHN DEVOUR LESTER STERLING — REGGAE IN THE WIND THE PIONEERS — GIVE ME LITTLE LOVING THE BELTONES — FEEL ALRIGHT KEN BOOTHE — BE YOURSELF THE HIPPY BOYS — THE HIPPYS ARE HERE RUDY MILLS — JOHN JONES THEO BECKFORD — EASY SNAPPIN’ 68 THE TECHNIQUES — THERE COMES A TIME THE UPSETTERS — CANE RIVER ROCK JUSTIN HINDS & THE DOMINOES — YOU SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER THE MARVELLS — FIGHT A BROKE SIR COLLINS — WE A COME DREAD RUPIE EDWARDS ALL STARS — FULL MOON THE VIBRATORS — GO BACK TONY KING — SPEAK NO EVIL TOMMY McCOOK — BLACK POWER KINGSLEY WRAY & SKYCREW — IKALINDA JOHN HOLT — ALI BABA KEITH HUDSON (DENNIS ALCAPONE) — SPANISH AMIGO DENNIS ALCAPONE — ROCK THEM CAPONE DENNIS ALCAPONE — RIPE CHERRY DENNIS ALCAPONE — ALCAPONE GUNS DON’T BARK AUGUSTUS PABLO — TOO LATE DESMOND DEKKER — LIVE AND LEARN https://www.mixcloud.com/mayfairmenthol/musical-happiness-fifteen-years-of-ska-rocksteady-reggae/
