Taken Me 35 Years To Find This Record
That red and white Island label, although being so basic and boring, it actually makes me excited just looking at it, I know that aounds bizarre - maybe like when poeple see a Shrine label or something...

Taken Me 35 Years To Find This Record
n.b. that sound clip is a different take to the 45, totally different backing vocals on the sound clip. Will try and find the original.

Taken Me 35 Years To Find This Record
I first heard this track down our local fair, on the waltzers, and I loved it straight away, always loved it, but never been able to get a copy (apart from on a reissue). Every time I've seen one, and there haven't been many occasions to be honest, I've missed out on it. I see one ending on ebay today so I thought sod it, I'm going to win this, so I placed a snipe bid of £250 on it, which is more than I've ever paid for a reggae 45 before, anyway, it came in at £51! Absolutely over the moon, I think that is my longest ever want finally filled. Sound clip to link below /Slim-Sm...tio-t66339.html

Satiron is a boot, so to speak - there was never an official 60's release, this was a 70's press by Soul Bowl given to dj's

Kent's Proposed Popcorn Cd
Bruce Cloud I believe

Kent's Proposed Popcorn Cd
Not at all Ady, I don't know anything about it apart from when I had the Sales Pitch record, people mentioned it was a popcorn tune, so that was my one and only suggestion. No problem, thanks for the apology, all the best.

Kent's Proposed Popcorn Cd
Amazed to see that this came out on British!

Kent's Proposed Popcorn Cd
Ady - talk about misunderstanding a post! The record is called Sales Pitch, it's by Tommy T or similar, and has the same backing as the Bruce Cloud record. The rhythm in the background features a typewriter clicking away. This was my serious suggestion for a track on the compilation, which you asked for. What's your problem?

Surrounded By A Ray Of Sunshine
Which, if you read my post, is what I just said!

Surrounded By A Ray Of Sunshine
Just can't understand how anyone can say this is awful. It's a fantastic record. It may not have any soul content but as a 'pop record' it's wonderful and should have made the top 10 in the pop charts. Can understand you not wanting to hear it at a Northern Soul venue, though I love it/loved it, as did all our lot, I'd play it now if I had some protetctive clothing. Also Paul, you missed the best 2 years of Wigan if you didn't go back after 1975.

Tunes You Dont Like
I think some people didn't quite read the question properly, it's about records you used to hate but like now. Mine is Sam Williams - Love slipped through my fingers. When this was first played I thought it sounded terrible, the intro and backing vocals always sounded out of tune. They still do, but I hadn't listened to the vocal properly back then. It only had a short lifespan as it came out on Grapevine, I really listened to it properly maybe 2 years later and loved it ever since, especially the Grapevine single which is 20 seconds longer than any other version

I like that record with the typewriter clicking throughout. Forgot what it's called. "Sales Pitch", that's it. Forgot who it's by. Never mind, ignore this.

Old Searling spin. Bet you haven't listened to it for a while not a patch on Samantha Jones. If you can't find it I'll post it up.

Graham Warr Catacombs Discoveries
Was going to say, don't show that list to Mick Smith as he'll say a good third of those records were discovered by him and his southern pals

Record Collector's Wallpaper
Found this at my local garden centre of all places. I think it's to decorate whole walls, fences etc at parties, but you could use it just to cover up a very boring wall like I did. It was onl 2.49. Not saying it's a life essential or anything, just that it's quite nice. And it's 50 feet long! "Scene Setters Room Roll" apolgies for photos, couldn't get one without bad reflection

Subway Riders came out twice Harry, one of them plays the Moonlight & Music inst but the other plays basically a backing track with people talking over it, I haven't heard it in years but it might have been from a Betty Lavette single
