Trouble is Chrissie, it's like a chain - I need to buy some northern records if I'm going to keep the business going - so have to sell something to get the money for those. If I don't, then I'm definitely closing down the business and signing on, the council can then pay their own tax for me. On the other hand, why didn't I think of this, instead of buying northern I could just sell reggae, then I wouldn't have to spend anything for a while

After a week when our council tax appeal was turned down and my credit file was hijacked yet again by someone with the same name as myself, to round of the week, my f*cking car died on friday. Not saying I'm unlucky or anything.

SKA, ROCKSTEADY & REGGAE COLLECTION FOR SALE Sadly I am going to have to let the lot go and am not sure whether to sell them individually or as a job lot. Obviously I'll get twice as much money for them by selling them individually but the clock is ticking. The collection is made up of approximately 80% UK original 45's, 10% original Jamaican 45's and 10% Jamaican reissues. I am in the process of putting together the list, it's about 75% done but the records haven't been graded and priced, what I'm trying to do is see what interest there is and whether to sell privately or go down the Ebay route. A sample from the list is below. If you are not sure about a lot of the records or you want to hear some, several are in the "Ska at Prestatyn" thread on Soul Source. I'm not going to mess about sending out mp3's here there and everywhere but if anyone wants to hear the lot, that's every 45 I've got, I'll put them all on one MP3 disc, contact me about this and I'll tell you how much and how to pay, I can't do them for nothing, sorry! A couple of years ago, I posted up a perfect quality copy of this up to the site and I wondered if anyone made a copy of it or can send it to me because I lost the cd I recorded it onto (I had an acetate of it), if you could help I'd be very grateful, I do have a copy but it's only about 7.5 out of 10 quality. I also need a perfect copy of Lonnie Russ - Say Girl, another one which I had on original but sold and can't find the cd. If anyone can help I'll buy you a bag of chips next time I see you. cheers

It's crossover/modern and he didn't like it, doesn't make the tracks any better just because they are respected singers, I only like Lonely For You Baby by Sam Dees, it's all horses for courses Steve

When Richard and Alan Rhodes first started playing Sam Williams - Love Slipped Thru My Fingers I;d leave the dancefloor in protest, that terrible caterwailing female backing singer on the intro made me cover my ears. I think it was maybe a year or two later when it came out on Grapevine that I started to appreciate it. After about 5 years it was up there with many of my favourites, and now 30 years on it never leaves my top 10. I still don't like the girl backing vocalist though.
