The Old Us Postage Question
Does it not concern you when the Us postage rates vary so much from state to state. Just got Beverly Ann - Hes coming home from Mauston WI . Came within 10 days and in a Jiffy bag with the usual 2 pieces of card and plastic sleeve around the record. Postage price $3.96 Mind you he charged me $10 and the record is in crap condition compared to his description which was " Very Nice condition"

Richard Searling To Quit Smooth Fm
Sorry to dampen your mediation Paul but the comments were intentional Before engaging brain Mike should get his facts right because I am sure that Mike was not one of Richards inner circle in the 70s or worked with him so his judgements are based on pure hearsay. As for Andy Peebles - I totally disagree as he was influenced by many local Manchester people which I am afraid unless you were privvy to in the 60s and early 70s you would not know either- Robbie Vincent is a different Kettle of Fish and agree that what he played was often picked up by the massess Its so easy to slag someone off without having factual evidence and I found Mikes Comments way off the mark. Richard did influence what was played sometimes by luck but sometimes by hard work and eventually he got what he worked for! Which Andy Peebles show are you talking about that influenced so many people to go out and buy thousands of records? Where are you from Paul? ATB Steve

Richard Searling To Quit Smooth Fm
Iget annoyed when idiots like yourself make comments without first engaging Brain! If you had worked with Richard or been quite close to him at various points in the last 35 years or so you would know that he has made a great contributuion to the scene as well as music in general . He has been fortunate at times but sometimes you need that little bit of luck or know how to become quite successful. You obviously knew him when he worked for RCA - I think not or Global I think not because if you knew how much time is spent sifting through millions of records to find the elusive crowd pleaser you would crawl back into your cocoon. Old saying- If you aint got nothing positive to say - Then say Nothing!

Are There Still Played Out Oldies?
Overplayed oldies- Depends on what you call an oldie? or definition of an oldie? You can have overplayed newies as well - like Ellipses / Hop skip and jump etc Id love to see DJ playlists where they play a completely different set from one do to the next I love the challenge of "across the board" as this usually means carefully working one genre into another which imo is a skill. Its easy to play a set of Classic oldies- Mixing them up with other genres and keeping people happy is much more of an skillful objective move In my lowly opnion.

Little Anthony Refund
As also a neutral- I have to say that you really need to take alook at your self when making such statements. Mike was absolutely right in his post. It appears you didnt do your homework re LA and what exactly were these underhand things that others were doing to sabotage your event- Lets have the full facts instead of Fuzzy Wuzzy statements that you have made. As for refunds- If I had had to wait like others have you would have been in the small claims court well before now- so thank your self lucky this avenue was not taken up. Whether you were making money or not out of the event you did it for some personal reason so that one doesnt cut with me. It clealry shows you are "Amateurs" otherwise even if this had been proffesionally put together and it failed you should have professionally communicated with all but again I sense you are intellectually deficient or you would have kept people up to date with what was going on after the event or if im wrong you got caught and didnt know how to cope with it which comes back to Amateur hour time! To put above your post - "Statement prepared" is arrogant imo when you have caused alot of anguish and upset to people. You deserve to be sent to Coventry (As long as their are no soul nights there)! So its easy to have ago and this is what I would have done. 1. Got contract signed - Appoint a solicitor to act on legal matters giiven the potential amount of money involved 2. Agreed in writing all outlets for ticket sales and checked the advertising and ticket sales on a weekly basis if not every other day. 3 Clear itinery identified for LA & I 4.Get to bank to ask for a business venture overdraft - Just in case 5 Having pulled the plug - set out a timetable of winding the event down 6 Global email to all purchasers with timetable for refunds 7 Weekly update on refunds and even included avoucher towards the next promotion 8 FInalisation report on number of purchasers and number refunded 9 Letter of apology via various sites to say sorry and watch this space! Thats what a proffesional does IMO So a warning - Dont get involved in something in which you are not suitably profficient to enact! whether successful or not- Cos even the pros have a bad day or even abad week or month- but not this long.

Confirm Or Deny?
Label Owner? Their is no label! What we are talking about is whether the person who pressed it up had permission of the rights(Copyright) owner to do so. The label owner as you call him may not have actually owned the rights to the record- They may be owned by someone else or one of the big guys - e.g. Sony or Universal. or maybe never registered the music which means any tom dick or harry can press it up. So unlees the above can be answered you dont know if its legit or not - Just ring BMI and they will tell you if its registered or not.
