Fine For Djing...?
Have to admit to having used this term in sales recently but assumed it was a sort of seller's warranty that the 45 would play through ok with no real issues if you wanted it to DJ with. Text from site grading guidelines :- VG+ A few more marks or light scuffs than a VG++ record but still sounds fine for listening and/or DJing. No scratches.Light surface wear. A used but far from abused copy. VG Scuffs and light scratches throughout, most can't be felt. Expect some surface wear throughout the record with light surface noise and possibly a few pops in places. Should still serve as a suitable player copy for listening & DJing.

Unexpected Find
I volunteer for Age UK and was sorting the vinyl donations on Friday when I found 2 decent 45's - Geno Washington - I've Been Hurt By Love and Pink Floyd's - Arnold Layne. Priced the Geno Washington at £14.99 and advertised it on the local NS Facebook page. A wise soul had been in today and bought it. Wouldn't mind the Pink Floyd 45 myself but it's too pricey for me! Makes a change from endless Jim Reeves albums

99P Soul - London - Sat 18Th April
Was hoping to make it along prior to the 100 Club. In the end none of Norwich 100 Club regulars were going this month and I didn't fancy the drive on my own. Sounds like I missed another good night. Best Mike

It's good isn't it Pete. Reminds me to investigate your reggae podcasts - Only taken me 40 odd years to discover rock steady - better late than never I suppose Edit - Just had a quick search and can see there's a couple of recent ones Studio 1 and Boss Sounds & Rock Steady which I'll have a listen to later this evening.

Lovely feedback Shuffling - Glad you enjoyed the night.

Backstreet Boutique, The Talk, Norwich - Saturday 28/2/15
Thanks for your feedback Chas. The event was aimed at complimenting Mark's regular events in the Main Hall at The Talk in Norwich featuring mainly classic and quality NS oldies and so the emphasis was to cover records which don't get played so often. I actually agreed a trade for the Bobby Foster track with one of the other dj's a couple of weeks ago and he turned up with it on the night about 5 mins before I was due to go on. It had apparently come from Soul Bowl and been in his collection since 74 and hadn't been played since, so job done on that one at least .

The Wall Of Sound - Studio Tapes
In the middle of reading Little Symphonies - A Phil Spector Reader - edited by Kingsley Abbott. A good yarn and will have a listen to some of the clips above to compliment the book. This joke attributed to Spector made me laugh " Albert Einstein invented the bomb, nuclear fission, the theory of relativity and you look at every picture of him, the man couldn't invent a hair conditioner!".
