  1. As if we needed it, one more reason this Global Postage thing is a nightmare for all. If they were to make it mandatory I'd stop selling internationally on Ebay. Not that I'd need to, it's so expensive, no one would buy. FWIW I haven't had anything stopped in customs when sent privately for a few years don't know about the EBay stuff.
  2. Certainly was. There's been a few things gone where the seller has a permanent line at the top of his speil, that says OVO etc and you have to look further down or in the print somewhere to see - this one ain't. Wonder if when they get it he'll get it back?
  3. Ah, but as usual people only read ALL US/UK ORIGINALS UNLESS STATED OTHERWISE They don't read COMMENTS-RE-ISSUE
  4. You could probably get an argument anywhere in town whether this is soul or not, but keep the razor close in case
  5. There is the other advantage of 78s, they have a monster sound unlike anything else. I could think of a few 45s that would sound incredible on 78.
  6. Outstanding Pete. Got most of them, but listening in one shot takes yer back to when we all had a pulse and life was all ahead. Ta very much.
  7. Happy Happy to all. Didn't notice this, I thought there'd be one up later today and I wouldn't be around so I put one up Mods can move it over if they like.
  8. I don't really see a problem. If it's cracked and you know it and it plays ok, why not, till a better one shows up, or not as the case may be. I've got a few I've had for years, no problem for me. Even sold a few, as long as everyone knows about it. Depends if you want one to play or to polish.
  9. At the time they were fairly out there, certainly not massive in Hoboken. No idea, but if I had to guess probably for a paint job. If they were in danger of closing, Yo La Tengo et al would do at least a 6 month benefit / residency outside the landlord's office to force them to reconsider.
  10. Ditto to everything above, from across the water. I hope every one gets something they want or deserves in 14
  11. Tis the fate of everywhere within a long spit of the city. I wouldn't bet the whole ranch it couldn't happen now because I haven't been over for a while for the above reasons, but sight unseen I'd bet all the cattle, most of the chickens and the bunkhouse. Deffo weren't no grubbiness on 1st St last time I was there, and a cup of dishwater deli coffee cost me a buck and a half. In the mid late 80's me and 4 or 5 bemused locals watched 3 Mustaphas 3 at Maxwells. Far too fab in there now for that sort of nonsense, I'm not even sure they have bands in there anymore.
  12. A very expensive village, with a very hipster attitude. All too fab to be worth the effort nowadays Sinistra couldn't afford to live there now. Docks are long gone. Greg's probably been there a long time so he probably has a deal, same with those who moved there 10 + years ago Guinness yes, but it tastes weird, doesn't seem to travel or if they make it here the water's wrong. Never bothered to inquire which. Still drinkable if you let it warm up a bit so your fillings don't hurt
  13. https://www.northernsoulbar.com/music.html Waste of a bucket I would have thought.
  14. Class act both Jules and Sid. Despite the intervening grief, it's nice when people act like adults in these situations. Gives you hope. As to #3 in this story, any chance of an unhappy ending? Life's annoying enough sometimes without more idiots stirring it and walking away.
  15. In my trip through the motherland I went in there as I was passing. Seems there were no takers so he's shutting up shop end of January. Not much in there of note but I bought a Donna Hinds 45 just on principle.
  16. Short memories you lot, most of you committed to helping that guy out with his 5 remaining NS weskits.
  17. I suppose if it was a case of hafta hafta have the best method is a always a personal manual job. This is with the benefit of my super duper 20/20 hindsight powers. The only problem with that is forgetting or if you do it early getting outbid and getting involved in a bidding war. That's why I use a snipe, that way I put in an amount then forget about it till it's done, for good or ill.
  18. Sorry to hear that, but like anything else it has to have a off day. All I can say is never yet , but I'm sure my day may come as it comes to us all
  19. Has always worked for me. That's all I can say. and you don't get much else for $6 nowadays.
  20. You get the basic sniper for free but for the extra $6 you get a separate snipe from a different server ie one is I think in Chicago, the other is in Florida or some such. So if one fails- gets hit by lightning runs out of ammunition etc the other one does it. I think the $6 is just so the guy that runs it makes a coupla bucks, as it's a one man show, but that's ok. Go have a look https://www.gixen.com/index.php
  21. Always used Gixen, never let me down. Free or $6 a year if you want the back up server / bidder as well
  22. That one unfortunately particularly gets up my nose. Just listened again to check, yep still doesn't do it. Such a waste of talent. but Hey Ho, different strokes.
  23. Outstanding!! but I'm trying to think of a duff track that Arthur made. Aside from the dodgy covers on the Dot album. It's not easy. Consistent to the end. Sadly missed.
  24. https://45-sleeves.com/ There ya go
  25. Barely Queens, not exactly on the beaten track. Went there a few years ago. Ebay factory. He's less than keen to let you look at the EBay piles, but the store stock ( rejects?) seem to have been worked on with a belt sander to remove anything extraneous - grooves, labels etc. Miserable sod too.
