  1. You're right Carl. Now I've got of my backside & gone & had a look in the collection I've found a couple as well. Lets see what happens when AndyK contacts Tim to see if his has the step in the label as well.
  2. Looking at a small picture of the F.W. that Kenny owns (I've not held the real record) where it has that step in the label..edit...Is that step in Tims record as well ? how come that QUALITY CONTROL stamper stamped such a uniform stamp? Why didn't it miss out the bit in the middle where it went down the dip? Has anyone actually seen the records sat side by side? Ady
  3. I think Coral used them well into the 60's ? I always thought that was a nice touch where they put that shine on the inside of the sleeve, never seen that on a U.S. sleeve. Some years ago I decided to put my records (except the British) into the old U.S. green sleeves. That looks nice when you get a lot of them together. They then fit into white card outers for extra protection. The worst way you can store your records is to put them into those polythene lined sleeves we all used to use years ago. For some starnge reason the polythene reacts against the vinyl after many years of being in contact. The BBC Library used poly lined sleeves, hence why a lot of their records that came onto the market a few years ago have a dull marble effect to the vinyl. Ady.
  4. Also In the U.K., the plain white sleeves used by companies like President with the 'wavy tops', however they did use straight tops as well, are infact the same sleeves as used by companies that had their own colours & names applied, like Stateside & Motown. Ady.
  5. Paul, Don't forget the brown ones that Coral, Vogue Coral, Vogue, Vogue Pop used. These brown sleeves differ to the U.S. type in that they have a faint shiny coating to the INSIDE of the sleeve. Ady.
  6. Bet some bugger will boot them. "I've had my t-shirt booted" ! oh no, just thought, John Manships price guide on t-shirts, followed by John Manships t-shirt bootleg guide Just a thought John, can you put a stipulation into the sales write up on this one....It's being sold under the strictest terms that it wont be sat on top of the local chippies deep fat fryer or have love notes written all over the label. Cheers, Ady
  7. Ian, Just a thought. Re Gilstrap, don't go selling off any of your big records to pay for it until you definitly want it back, you know how these things can go tits up. Re Frank Wilson. What I really think is a shame is when there are only two known copies of a record, both are in nice condition......until they get over here. One ends up warped & with a dubious looking stain on it, & the other copy ends up with a bloody story written on the label ! Unless the owner that does this damage to the record intends to take it to their grave (& that's a very selfish act) then it's down to them to look after the record for the next generation of ownership. That's my humble little view on it anyway. Ady
  8. Hi Ian, Well nows your chance to get it back, Tim Brown has just put it up for auction on his list, £800 kick off https://www.raresoulvinyl.co.uk/auctions.asp Regards, Ady

  10. Ah, that must be the copy that my mate got then He calls in once a year, plays all my new finds that I've worked real hard to find, writes them down, then goes away & finds them for next to nothing Aint that right Mr.A. !! I stumbled upon the more uptempo side by chance. I purchased a copy for the slow side "This is the beginning" then found the dancer when I flipped it. The Frogdeath label was owned by K.E.L.P. dejay Steve Crosno. Same group as Bobby & the Premiers (Bobby being Bobby Rosales) on the SOULED OUT label, did tracks like "Man about town". Cheers, Ady
  11. Superb song. I think I've mentioned this before, but there were definitly 3 different type sets on the labels of this record, as I had all 3 at the same time. So does this mean Liberty did 3 pressing runs of it? Not a rare record, just a good one. Ady
  12. According to Ruben Molina the El Paso Drifters performed with the El Paso Pemiers, the Nite Dreamers & the Las Cruces Majestics at the City Coliseum, so I wonder if the Drifters were Mexican as well ? Ady
  13. Hi shute, Yes, that was the GA-002 first release. With the '711' number, I think by the time they got to the yellow labels the stampers were pretty much done for. The Honey & The Bees version is good. Ady
  14. Thanks for posting those up, been waiting years to hear the other version
  15. So there's quite a bit of difference between them then?
  16. Any chance you could post up the two takes Chalky? Only know the one version, so don't know if there is much difference? Thanks, Ady
  17. Here's a scan of what it looks like mate. It's been so long since I played it that I can't remember how much it differs (if it does?) from Johnny Moffett, will play it later & find out. Sorry, can't do soundclips yet. Seem to remember the flip "I love you" is ok'ish? Ady.
  18. Hi Benji, Don't know if this is the version that Roger Banks was playing, but there's the John Westley - You are the one - Corsair Ady
  19. One of my favourite harmony songs is this one, again it's on Dore, it went on to become a big hit in East LA with the Latinos...... https://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=DgRiaq-zaI8 So nice to see original footage. Great idea for a thread Brad ! Regards, Ady
