You have to ask yourself why you wernt the one who made the offer instead of waiting for the auction to end, especially if its a long term want. This happens pretty regularly and you cant blame the seller. You never know the poor sod might need it for med bills over there in the states.

If you are buying to sell you have to buy well. It's that simple. I do miss the 2 for 1 days. Them you still have to get raped by paypal on conversion, then some people want $23 for postage on ebay. I should imagine with the amount of tunes that are over here we can sell some back to the Yanks and reverse the currency issue. It will all become redundant when the $ crashes to the worth of a bean. Its been patched together for years now. Anyone stocking up on gold and silver? Will be the best currency for tunes in the future. Plenty of large US banks have been backing up with physical metals for a some time now. Wonder why.

I have a copy of this rarity in first class condition to trade for something of similar quality / rarity. Dont need northern, RnB or anything people havnt been able to shift on here off their lists for whatever reason. Yes to funk, funky soul, funky modern (no scene classics) the more obscure the better. I dont really have a wants list.

There is a seperate thread about Anglos connoisseur soul packs going tho, unsurprisingly, not as lenghthy as this. Not by a long chalk.

I have a mate who bought one from Tim a few years back and had no complaints. There were enough decent tunes in there to get to the £300 price tag with no bother and most didnt look like they had seen a needle he said. However, as the FCA always tells us, 'past performance is no gurantee on future returns' so dont hold me to this he he. My mate has a collection of 4/5000 ish soul tunes mainly under £2/300 items with a few biggies and is a knowledgable chap when it comes to northern 45s.

Perhaps I can sum up - his complaint is that he was oversold with a load of hype and got delivered a load of tripe. The classic say anything to get the money then send any old shit, he seems to feel. I did toy with the idea of buying a few grands worth from him a year or two back as stock for my discogs shop but didnt due to the fear of this kind of thing happening. Just end up with loads of tut you cant ever shift. For under a grand you could have some custom made wallpaper to look like there are shelves and piles of records on the wall. This would seem less pointless than buying 1000 tunes most of which are dross.

As a marker of what goes on outside this bubble with a name at least some on here might know. I had a conversation with a guy who claimed to work for Kenny Dope's management agency. This guy wanted £10k for Kenny to show up and seemed to think it a reasonable request and in line with "the market". A choking on my pint type scenario followed.

We had similar experiences. On an outlay of a few grand over a year (we had 5 events) and I barely got my money back but was expecting that for a start up. Our venue got closed down when the pub above changed hands and our dream venue got used as a store room for tables and chairs. People who ran the venue had 14 years of hard graft wiped out at a stroke so I couldnt really grumble about our wasted year. Our music policy was wider than northern and its related genres. Hardest thing in London is to find a decent venue not good quality people to play records and the fiscal issues that brings.

It appears that these days even in this climate kids on that scene expect ticket prices like that. Ive been a few techno related parties over the last few years and where in the past id usually get in free (im way out of that loop these days) ive had to go for the early bird tickets I wonder how much it costs to get Robert Hood or Derrick May or Semtex to DJ these days. Footballers wages Im guessing. Price point is what people are prepared to pay I guess but with those kind of parties raves events whatever you want to call them there is a high risk to reward ratio.

yes but the issue is most things on there are a massive piss take price wise. must have to drive truck loads through to find an idiot to buy.
