  1. For many of us there is an ocean's gulf between a GK show and TH…. Only restricted view seats available at RAH now, so plenty going.

  3. Plenty of us would rather see Gladys any day of the week. Think that is your answer.
  4. The missus said she'd booked the royal albert hall for this as a treat. I hope Gladys is on there.
  5. Easy….thousands have paid already. i am afraid that's what these big names go for these days. People pay hundreds for a night at a top show - did you miss the nonsense when Kate Bush was dug up? Her fans were going mental for tickets.

It did Sean, I have it on my Shout set collection as well. In fact that reminds me I should probably do a Shout one hour special on Radio - there's enough good material - have you read the Bert Berns book yet?
  7. Yep agreed Mark, all the different versions…..they download OK. Some right names on there too.
  8. Hi Mark I've been searching for these on the download sites for a few weeks, seems you can only download from the website,. There are loads of versions of the song, including salsa country and reggae! Take your pick. A couple of nice soul versions though and I guess it's a good cause.
  9. Hello Martin hope you are keeping well.

All this foaming and frothing about Eddie Parker got me thinking about an early 70s record on Awake from Greenville SC by Martha Starr & Moses Dillard. Both Martha and Moses were originally from Greenville, Martha of course toddled off to Detroit to do most of her recording. Reckon she went back home to record the Awake number. The label says it's "A new sound of consciousness" and there is no sniff of Jack Ashford on the credits - Moses Dillard and Tex Town through and through. Despite this, I still have this nagging thought that it's a later incarnation of the same label, and wonder if Moses Dillard bought the label in some sort of deal? Or is it purely co-incidences.

    Paul Royle.
  12. A confessed sometimes Shredded Wheat bitesize eater (you can get about 50 in a bowl), and I am not offended by the advert at all. Good tune, and I am past caring about folk in baggies these days. A few years ago I might have been going on about clown wear, badges, oldies etc., but not today. It's what the revival northern soul scene does. It's not a scene I am on, so what those folk get up to doesn't bother me. If you get on the upfront side of the scene these things going on with the retro crowd will no longer trouble you.
  13. Is Mr Chadwick back on the scene?
  14. Unknown? It's Jo Armstead ain't it?
  15. Soul Bowl had them at the time. Quantity. New release. Lovely.
  16. I don't think the Eddie Parker is Paul's though
  17. Hi Russ - Shredded Beats plays some soul and has operated for years in Welwyn Garden City…..so named as the town was the former home of Nabisco.

  19. Think we can conclude this with: 1. Arthur's sound 2.Not played in Mr M's or in the Casino. BTW on these forgotten early modern sounds can we add "Your love keeps me dancing" Ike Strong (Richards old Lee Moore & The Resourceful Ones c/up), and Butches "funky...music" as opposed to "disco...music" 7" version by True Image which very rare on 7.
  20. Funny thing is Sean I now have the time to do it properly, but to be honest can't be dealing with all the dickheads that have sprung up in recent times
  21. Richard was playing things like Leon Bryant "Mighty body hotsy totsy" (Delite) at the Casino and that's pretty in yer face too...
  22. I'd be surprised if it was played at the Casino. Possible for Searling but then I get the venues mixed up and might be thinking of his sets at Rotherham. I am sure Mark Freeman from Nuneaton would know since he tried to amass every tune ever played there.
  23. Hi Arthur, thats funny….I found another 12" NIA record in London in 82….nowhere near as good though. reckon yopu got there before me LOL!
  24. Looks like an unreleased track to me. Is anything on the other side?
