  1. In addition to the versions on other labels listed above, there was also the Minit 45. As well as there being lots of different versions of their records, there were also many different versions of the group. Bobby Sanders kept ripping the guys off & so they'd quit & he'd just set up a new replacement group (at one time, even the Imperial Wonders became the Younghearts).
  2. Of course, some of this would be nice ...
  3. On the jazzy side ...
  4. Anuda ...
  5. I could do with this ..........
  6. Info on the Bagatelle ... https://www.punkblowfish.com/Bagatelle.html

Thelma Jones [first Boston appearance in 50 years] - The originator of "The House That Jack Built" and "Salty Tears" Shor'ty Billups - Boston's soul survivor singing some of his most collectible Shor'ty and Eddie Billups 45s The Natural Wonders - Fred Griffeths from The Bagatelle [ABC Records/Bosstown Sound], Gail Nickse and their special guest Kit Holliday . . . . . . Eli Paperboy Reed leading an all-star band Easy Ed's Record Hop starting the night at 6 p.m. with vintage rockabilly, hillbilly, early R&B and doo-wop 45s THEN ... live show 7 to 9:30 p.m. I know Boston (USA) is a long way away but some here may be able to attend. Trust Eli to host a really memorable B'day Party.
  9. I've written articles for numerous fanzines down the years ... going right back to the early 80's (so that's over 35 years now).
  10. Don't know if this actually ties in with the current weather forcecast, but it is hot & sticky track ...
  11. Not a series of releases that hold much interest for us here BUT the 'Now That's What I Call Music' series hits #100 today ...and EMI was heavily involved in the project from the beginning ... it did bring tracks by the likes of Jackie Wilson, Nina Simone, Ben E King, Kool & the Gang, Midnight Star and Patti LaBelle to the notice of an audience that otherwise wouldn't have bought their stuff ...
  12. Pat Johnson's 45 tracks ...
  13. Sometimes US pop stn DJ's got behind left-field soul 45's ... don't know why but it was a good thing ...
  14. Well if we're saying .... all the soulless tailor-made instros (removed-vocals tracks) in the Casino era make me very very miserable .... even more so if one gets played at a do I'm attending.
  15. The group remained active for a short period after they returned to the US in 1979 ... though their PR was still emphasising the Paris connection ... ... names to get tickets from (at the bottom of the poster) include group members Frank Abel, Arthur Young & Donny Donable ...
  16. EMI Belgium ... ... anyone here got a Nancy Wilson "End Of Our Road" on Belgium Capitol 45 ??
  17. The Laddins singing the praises of Miami's Birdland Club (@ the Mary Elizabeth Hotel) ...
  18. Billy Prince (ex of the Precisions) plays live gigs with his band in & around the San Diego area. He's on Facebook ... drop him a message to see if he has any gigs while you're there.
  19. A couple more ...
  20. A few off the above charts (including a Curtom on Volt) ... & I guess the Temples is actually the Tempos ....
  21. Over to San Fran ... KDIA ... ... still looking for a copy of the Betty Stewart 45 @ the bottom of the November Happening Hits list ...
  22. The 1st release from the outfit who became the Crow ... the Bang 45 by Soul Congress ... the other side is the favoured one (BLACK HOUSE) but it's not up on youtube ... but this side of the 45 is ... BTW, that's Bobby Boyd on sax on this one ...
  23. A few of the names that the group who cut AUTUMN OF TOMORROW's records were put out under .... see below ... At the time that the Right On 45 was released here, they were based out of Paris but coming across to the UK to promote their CRISPY & CO. releases ... BY the way, other names that their releases went out under (around the world) were Krispie And Company, Les Atlantes, Mighty Disco Machine, Seven Americans In Paris, Sweet Exorcist and Wall Of Steel. In addition to all those (& the ones in the pic below), their vocals were removed from a number of tracks they'd laid down in the mid to late 70's and the lead vocals of Chantel Curtis, Brenda Mitchell, Chantal Alexandre, Chantal Sitruk & Michele added. By the way, all those singers were actually the same person.
  24. A good place to start ID'ing rare releases is maybe to list the 'tax scam' labels that only pressed up a few copies (or pressed up 500 / 1000 copies & then immediately junked the vast majority of them). Some obvious tax scam labels were Guinness (Frank Dell, Roger Hatcher), Emkay (Hypnotics, Otis Williams), Tiger Lily, Tomorrow, TSG, etc. ... BUT ... there must be quite a few more of them ...
