Wise to always take two pairs of shoes to a nighter, I do. Don't know about desert boots though. State of my shoes when I get home! Looks like they've been in a war zone. Dread to think what suede desert boots would look like after a nighter.

I hope this is not the post that got me into trouble mike, coz if so, it's a line out of a song, honest. Pete has added the next line underneath.

Me neither. I wear trainers a lot of the time, but wouldn't to a soul do. Less risk in slide-ability by wearing a brogue or loafer etc. Imagine getting to a do, hearing a great track, then moving to the dance floor in yer trainers only to find you're stuck to it

Ah good, I'm glad that's all sorted. I think the butch dykes must refer to their masculine side on occasion. BTW, woss with you avatar? Nice bird like you should have some dainty stilettos, or strappy sandals surely

This thread's about fashion on the Northern Soul scene and not about sexism. But I'm not sexist, honest! Check out my signature. I'm in touch with my feminine side whist still being reassuringly heterosexual Keb once said that the whole point of wearing baggies was to give 'one's bits' some freedom whilst dancing

I just got in from the Isle of Skye I'm not very big and I'm awfully shy The ladies shout as I go by Donald where's your trousers. Let the winds blow high, Let the winds blow low, Down the street in my kilt I go And all the ladies say hello Donald where's your trousers A lady took me to a ball And it was slippery in the hall I was afraid that I would fall 'Cause I didn't have on my trousers They'd like to wed me everyone Just let them catch me if they can You canna put the brakes on a highland man Who doesn't like wearing trousers. To wear the kilt is my delight, It isn't wrong, I know it's right. The highlanders would get afright If they saw me in trousers. Well I caught a cold and me nose was raw I had no handkerchief at all So I hiked up my kilt and I gave it a blow, Now you can't do that with trousers.- Threads Thread
And the Scottish sense of humour??? And I was sticking up for kilts- Threads Thread
I refused to wear one once when I was paige boy at my cousins wedding c1978. I don't dare say they look nice on ladies- Threads Thread
Nah anything. You'll upset the Celtic Soul Brothers- Threads Thread
I am an old fashioned office boss who thinks that birds look better in skirts Seriously (in response to Karenb also) people of all gender's are free to wear whatever the hell they like.- Threads Thread
As previously stated, the beauty of ns scene means you can wear what you want. A uniform dress code these days would be a bit ridiculous. The discussions of the changing styles over the year's however is I think an interesting topic. Live and let live- Threads Thread
Come on Shane, we've got to talk about something other than Levine, or pressings. I thought he made some salient points.- Threads Thread

There is a guy at Plinston, I forget his name (Big O could tell us), he sells baseball caps and polo shirts, and the last time I was there he had on the most outrageous pair or flared jeans I'd seen for some time. Don't see quite so much of that sort of thing these days.- Threads Thread
