  1. Here's two adverts from February and March 1982 for the SAS of GB Soul Club.
  2. Didn't Soussan "acquire" the acetates that turned up later?
  3. Rod, Is the Lp the one Rob Marriott did late 80's?
  4. Jock, Whilst compiling Dave Withers podcast both Dave and Rod were adamant Stafford was the first place they were played.
  5. What I find funny is people would pay £10 or whatever it is and happily play it out, probably because the original is rare and it is getting a lot of attention and talk, yet most wouldn't play a £10 original cheapie? SWONS
  6. It is probably the slower of the two takes?? There is also a third take with a 70's feel to it that is being played out at venues over here by one or two.
  7. Is this the one Robb.....
  8. Here you go Steve....
  9. I think the speeding up on the boot was an accident, the tape player actually playing fast, sure that's the story as I remember it. I'm sure Robb says the acetate with the working title Baby Have Mercy On Me wasn't the acetate he recorded the track off, sure he will confirm one way or t'other if he reads this.
  10. It actually came over here on a tape done by Robb K whilst working on the "From The Vaults" series which was eventually shelved. Rod Shard who the tape went to got it cut and Dave Withers played it out at Stafford. The acetate came later.
  11. It is unissued Peter, there is an acetate though.
  12. Post your report here Kev, would make fascinating reading I am sure. I for one would like to read it.
  13. When did you first start playing this Dave. I think it is a fantastic record and hearing stuff like this keeps the enthusiasm burning.
  14. Nice work Zane. Will take a look later.

Brilliant, absolutely brilliant at The Band in the Wall last night. The place was packed and HOT, damn hot. Great to see so many youngsters enjoying themselves to some quality soul music.
  16. Reading Tim Brown's book it was Russ and Ian Fishwick to begin with. Kev joining within a month and Richard within two months.
  17. I wish I could afford/get a scanner that will do a whole page of Black Echoes and I'd scan all I could and document it week by week Anyway good to see these few topics bring back some happy memories for some of you.
  18. Dave Thorley has the only copy known. It is uncredited if memory serves me correctly, Bell Sound Acetate.
  19. Roller skating must be coming back into fashion in this country as they had roller skating at the Radcliffe Civic Centre yesterday morning not sure they were rolling to JJ Barnes?
