  1. So that is after Stafford and after Colin...... (bangs head on wall)
  2. I reckon in answer to the original question, it was well known to collectors, had pays on the Mod Scene in London early 80's before gaining wider recognition on the Northern scene via Colin.
  3. As Butch says well known to collectors before it got plays by Colin so I would have though Pat well aware of it. However he is adamant he didn't play the record, in particular at Stafford. Bradford would be a few years after, 1988?
  4. Will there be a listen again facility Nev or an upload to mixcloud?
  5. I've heard from Pat. He said he never playd it at Stafford. He neither mentioned about him playing it elsewhere. Like I said I don't recall Pat playing it at any allnighters, he had a great set of his own.
  6. Stafford closed February 1986. It was massive 1987 at Chesterfield, Blackburn and Allanton when that started end of the year, I'm almost certain it was still being played covered up then. As I said earlier never ever heard of this being associated with Pat by anyone other than Phil. I will email Pat see if he has any recollections.
  7. I've never heard of this record being associated with Pat, never heard him play it and never heard him talk about it when it was being spun by Colin....happy to be proved wrong and that it was Stafford spin but no one I've pestered (and that's a lot of folk) mentioned this in the same breath as Stafford.
  8. I know it's August but haven't a clue why I typed audio Great 45 though.
  9. I've been in touch with the last surfing member of the Service men as you know Dave. Be nice to hear some of the tales Hadley can tell.
  10. First I've heard of this mentioned alongside Stafford although I'm sure with it being on Sureshot it would be known to some. Colin is the first I remember playing it around 1987 covered up as you say.
  11. Press Release: August Heat You And Me/Hooked On You SJ524 Release Date: Monday September 9th 2013 The August Heat Band, hail from the small town of Bristol near Opelousas, in the state of Louisiana. The main core of the August Heat band consist of the gospel trained lead soprano vocalist Eltonez Salton otherwise affectionately known as “Cookie”. Veteran lead guitarist, background vocalist, and the August Heat album project producer, John Kent Pierre-Auguste. Who more frequently uses the abbreviated name of Kent August. Along with bass guitarist Ronny Sonnier, drummer Michael “Joe Monk” Caesar and keyboardist Tony Lea. On the “Closer” album project additional keyboard parts were provided by local musician and studio engineer Michael Lockett. Who also recorded and mixed the entire album at his Lockdown studio in Lafayette, La. The “Closer” album project began in 2010 and was a further two years in the making. It is from this excellent album that we at Soul Junction have taken the delightful mid-tempo offering “You And Me” backed with the more up-tempo dancer “Hooked On You” for our next 45 release. In doing so, we hope to introduce the great sound of the August Heat Band to the appreciation of a greater worldwide audience. Here’s to a successful future, August Heat. 12. It had some plays backin the 80's. I wonder if Columbia released it anywhere else or was it just Canada?
  13. Project? By that you mean bootlegging?
  14. Pretty sure there is/are Russian member or members of this site?
  15. It is as Byrney says an unissued uncredited Karen or Carla recording believed to be Sharon McMahan. I've sent her an email to see if she knows anything about it.
  16. Argentinian releases been on ebay in the past, saw it about ten years ago for the first time.
  17. Wednesday? Happy birthday btw...sure I've told you already mind
  18. Punters decide a venues fate, its success or failure but they don't necessarily decide its direction, not initially. They might influence the direction if the promoter is influenced by such but if a promoter knows what he or she wants then that will have a bearing on the type of crowd they attract. If a set is well thought out with imagination with the right mix of lesser known or underplayed and oldies then there is no reason why any venue can't succeed.

  21. I've advocated this for a long time but I doubt promoters would take it up as ten quid is ten quid, p*ss head or not. Russ mentioned tickets. They will never work. Have run ticket only in the past or both ticket and pay on the door and the uptake of tickets was practically non existent. Whether it is because people don't want to buy in case of last minute postponement? Don't have the money to spend ahead or what I don't know.
  22. A want here Tim....
  23. Just reading the Bobby Womack biography Midnight Mover, excellent read with some cracking stories, some sad some funny.
