  1. Damon Alburn and Richard Russell deserve a huge pat on the back and some well earned respect for what they've done for Bobby. Haven't seen all Bobby yet but what I have seen it would appear he struggled at first, wrong song choices maybe to start the set off? But once he was into the second half of his set he was kicking ass.
  2. Learning American R&B then plagiarising and ripping other artists off

I never said there weren't any better cheaper records and yes taste is subjective, it would be boring if we all liked the same things. Turned up? I take it records you've simply found that were already known? The way I read it you've discovered better records and I was simply interested to see what better discoveries these were.

Marc, just who of the three who had or has copies have sold theirs to US collectors?

Out of interest, care to give us a few examples?
  7. I think they've finally put a seat on the bog, does that count?
  8. Two Lp's..... The Live Band - A Chance For Hope - TSOB The Rancer Allen Group - Brothers - Gospel Truth 45... Frank Lucas - Your Love Got Me High - Highland
  9. There is nothing snobbish about buying cheap records and sticking to original vinyl Pete. The topic I highlighted will keep Liam busy for a long time within his budget and get him a fantastic collection without the need to resort to reissues. He and others like him are the future of the scene and may wish to move into DJing, no many will touch him with outta sight re-issues. He can get plenty of fun without buying re-issues and yes he should buy whatever he wants, I fully agree. Shouldn't we just stick to giving Liam tips rather than turn this into another OVO/boot topic, having said that we haven't done the topic for the last few weeks so another is due.
  10. There is a fantastic topic on here cheap as chips or something similar, will keep you going buying wise for a few years the recommendations.

There are a couple of great Lp topics on here somewhere. One was LP only tracks and another LP recommendation topic. Maybe one of the mods can find them for you.
  12. I know your not rocking it mate. just saying Butch featured it a fair bit. But top DJ's have always influenced what others DJ's go out and buy. Shame some of those DJs don't go looking for some of the cheapies and goodies out there.
  13. He's played it more than once and it's a US acetate he has and a different take I think to the UK release.
  14. Yes getting confused here Dave, up to early I think. Need some sleep I have the Jimmy Radcliffe cd. Hi son was something to do with it. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Where-Theres-Smoke-Fire/dp/B000XLQG3Q/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1372408300&sr=8-1&keywords=Jimmy+Radcliffe
  15. Dean Parish, did this not make it to cd?

Most definitely. I try and source everything in the UK nowadays it even with the increase in postage it can be cheaper to purchase from the US, particularly LPs. This and the fact many US sellers now declare the value means we get hit at customs as well.
  17. It can take years for a record to eventually make it "big" nationwide or shall I say gain exposure to a wider audience. One of the records you mentioned which you claimed to be a Burnley sound and not an oldie was played many years before by at least two other Dj's and in that respect is a bit of an oldie and was widely known by those who attended the 100 Club, Lifeline and other venues the two said Dj's appeared. Was it Cliff who played it at Burnley? He no doubt, knowing Cliff, had it tucked away for years before giving it turntable action. This and the fact it is an obscure and tough to find record make it hard to gain wider exposure on the scene. Butch's Parliaments another example. It wasn't until the likes of Sam and Mick got copies and played it up an down the country that it broke nationwide,I could give other examples but it would be pointless. As for who cares who played what first, many do, I for one like to see respect and credit where it is due. As for playlists most no longer post them not just because they get picked apart but because all the lazy sods then go and hoover up the records listed that said Dj has worked hard to find, put the hours in, if they wanna know what a DJ plays go out and listen to them.
  18. Andy Dyson too...not at the 100 Club mind . They don't mean nothing either Ted
  19. You should finish it Dave. A lot of stories there. Just about read all their is that could shock me so I wouldn't be offended. Real life is far better than fiction. You can publish for free these days via e likes of iTunes and ebooks etc.
