  1. I understand that Ian, but everyone on this site knows all about it. That's why I asked do we seriously get excited about the mere mention of a northern soul record to start a topic about it.
  2. I agree to a point but some researcher at radio two will be into northern and will have fed him this info. It's not as though this record has escaped media attention in the past with Kenny even appearing on TV with it if I remember rightly.
  3. I don't think I'd bat an eyelid to that Pete.
  4. Fair comment but my point was (and it ain't a dig) is that there are plenty of soul and northern soul lovers who work in advertising, TV and radio, this is now practically an every day occurrence, you only have to watch coronation street for a mention or a record getting played then wait till the next morning for another topic about it.
  5. Does something like this really excite people? There's Motown and northern on radio everyday. It's on many tv shows as well.
  6. I rate Willie Hightower more than a tenner but not as high as some have listed, seen t at £75. Saying that I've seen it sell for that.
  7. I have one but won't be home till the weekend, how much is soulmine's?
  8. It shouldn't cost any more than five or ten quid, that's what it initially cost and no reason why it should cost anymore now.
  9. Stafford 27th May, 19th August and 8th September. Gary, Keb Darge, Steve Smith, Chris King briefly, George Sharp, Robin and Pat. https://www.mixcloud.com/Chalkster/stafford-top-of-the-world-27th-may-10th-august-8th-september/
  10. and another upload this time from 16th & 29th September 1984. Dj's on this recording are Guy Hennigan, Adam, Rob Smith and Dave "Dim" Lawton or his "His Imperial Dimness" from Cannock. Again many thanks to Mark Hanson for supplying the tape. https://www.mixcloud.com/Chalkster/stafford-top-of-the-world-16th-29th-september-1984/ Look out for another later today as well.
  11. Walter & Sisters How Long on Studio Ten the second track Peter.
  12. Covers33 do ten inch sleeves.
  13. Just trying to work out what they are Peter, the brain refuses to work after Skeggy. Pat DJing I think, mecca classic he says it is I think?
  14. If you want some underplayed records look through this lot.... There will be plenty of good dancers unknown to the dance-floor today simply because of the DJ's today all chasing and playing the same records.
  15. Another tape from May 1985 courtesy of Mark Hanson. https://www.mixcloud.com/Chalkster/stafford-top-of-the-world-all-nighter-may-1985/
  16. Chalky posted a gallery image in Soul Flyers
  17. Congratulations Bob on reaching 11 years. Keep up the great work.
  18. Here's scans of the pages relating to Bernard Smith in the first two Ol Virginia Soul cd's. I can do the rest of CD 1 at the weekend if you still require it.
  19. Rob Moss will tell you. He did an article on here telling the story of The Tempos. https://www.soul-source.co.uk/articles/soul-articles/the-tempos-story-by-rob-moss-r2058
  20. Will sort for the weekend for you If not sorted before. Might get chance later on.
  21. There are a few about, more than a few. There was a small batch of the them for a start from Benny himself, I was told they all had water damaged labels.
  22. No wonder sellers are deserting ebay. I would have thought under trades description act the item has to be returned as bought?
  23. You are probably not far off mate, maybe even less but demand seems to be adding another ton to the value.
  24. I have all the Detroit City Limits plus the Detroit Discography. Don't have any Midnight Express so if anyone got any the wish to sell?
  25. People are buying but like you not on eBay. Too many fees with eBay and PayPal and too many crooks and chancers.
