We knew it was coming but it doesn't make the news any easier to take. Micky was one of the scenes most colourful characters, it was a pleasure to have known him all these years and to call him a friend. Sleep easy mate. My sympathies and condolences to the lovely Annie, and to both families. x R.I.P. Micky

Great Yarmouth Weekenders, Soul Radio 20/10/1990
PAet three of Alan T's (Tomo) Yarmouth Radio Recordings. Steve Whitlle is finishing off his Motown set and is followed by Dave Evison. I think Ady sneaks in atb the end, it sounds like him but not 100% sure as volume level was low although have increased for the upload. https://www.mixcloud.com/Chalkster/great-yarmouth-weekender-radio-20-10-90-part-3-steve-whittle-dave-evison/

The Moods Of Millie Jackson
Millie Jackson has been beloved by soul fans of every persuasion since she laid down countless seminal tracks at Spring in the 70s. Her career was so successful there that she made nearly 20 albums. Each of them was a mix of current soul styles, with rap an increasing influence towards the latter part of her Spring tenure. Inevitably, some excellent ballads were hidden within LPs dominated by rap numbers that may not have been to many soul fans’ taste. Millie had such a large output that the very best of her slower numbers make a stunning package that caters to collectors who might want a convenient collection of her best down-tempo moments or music fans who don’t need Millie’s full catalogue. The classics ‘It Hurts So Good’ and ‘If Loving You Is Wrong’ stand side by side with lesser known gems such as ‘Special Occasion’, ‘Angel In Your Arms’ and ‘I Can’t Say Goodbye’. Compiler Sean Hampsey has programmed the tracks to flow in the same way the “Caught Up” album, with very short gaps between the numbers, sequenced to flow into each other as if the CD was a concept album itself. The songs come from such illustrious writers as Sam Dees, Phillip Mitchell, Banks & Hampton, Bobby Womack and Allen Toussaint. What makes some of the numbers so powerful is Millie’s involvement as a composer with fellow musicians. She appears as co-writer on four of the tracks. Kent’s previous Millie Jackson compilation “Soul For The Dancefloor” has been very well received. We resisted naming this one “Soul For The Sofa”, although that might well be its most appropriate setting. Rare Voices Only For Connoisseurs & Collectors
just found this on Soulful Detroit Archives. https://soulfuldetroit.com/archives/1157-%20MAR%20APR%2004/10265.html?1080720830 Re: The Lemons family. This is a reprint from the Detroit 300 Almanac. It might make a interesting new forum topic. "From Gold Soul Records to Cold Steel Bars" Inkster motel firefight WARRANT TRIP TURNS DEADLY FOR POLICE . They drifted from one fly-by-night scam to another and were living in an Inkster motel when Inkster police arrived July 9, 1987, to serve Alberta Easter, and her sons with a warrant for a $286 bad check. Easter, 69, protested, insisting the warrant was improper. Officers Clay Hoover, 24, and Daniel Dubiel, 36, called their supervisor, Sgt. Ira Parker. He drove to the Bungalow Motel on Michigan Avenue. Seconds after Parker, 41, entered the motel room, gunfire began. The cops didn't have a chance. Twenty-nine slugs were pumped into the three officers, including rounds from their own weapons. Then Easter and sons George, 45, Roy, 47, and William Lemons, 43, fired at random out the motel door at Michigan Avenue. A 10 hour standoff ended when the family surrendered. All were convicted of first-degree murder and are serving life terms.
