It seems we have missed the passing of Lou Wilson, one of the Wilson Brothers who formed Mandrill. He died of cardiac arrest on the 7th January. http://myblacknews.n...-71/01/09/2013/ *Fans are mourning the death of Lou Wilson of Mandrill, the afro-funk band who passed away from cardiac arrest. Great record IMO covered up as Hal Milller in the 80's but need some confirmation as to who played it.

Nothing at all? Nothing since 1982/3? I've a cd sat in front of me that recently dropped through the letter box, The Dynamites feat Charles Walker and in a similar style Lee Fields. Daptone, Timmion been putting some great music out as well as many others without going down the "Modern" soul route. It is out there! All great Soul Music IMO

At the end of the day the magazine wouldn't survive with the music we like, we are a minority and shrinking. It has to encompass other black music and acts in order to get the revenue return to survive. Echoes is no different although there is a little more in it to do with what we follow, not a lot mind.

I remember first hearing this years ago at Andy's Dave, he had the only copy I knew of over here, Andy Mac I think got one later as well. We compared them and definitely the same person.

My copy of So Long Johnny has Ah Huh on the flip. My copy of I"m Gonna Be Somebody Someday has Drive On James on the flip. I have all those you mention Gene, quite a few weren't Keb's. According to Ady in his sleeve notes the unissued Persianettes was played by John Vincent at Wigan first off an acetate, Keb got it cut later on at Stafford.

There's room for as many articles as people wish to contribute, more the merrier. The scene is all about the music and I'm sure members would welcome more articles such as Marks regardless what year the cd or vinyl 45 was issued. I know I enjoy reading others reviews and recommendations. If anyone interested drop me a PM?
