  1. "Just a little Misunderstanding" was completed in March 1966. Joe Stubbs left after this and Edwards joined, is this right? So going by the RCA matrix Gareth mentions he more than likely recorded this before joining Motown and the Contours? Maybe Berry Gordy got wind of this recording and not wanting it to interfere with what he was now doing with the Contours made sure it never got released?
  2. Just found this site, shows the different designs and the distributors.....R&B Indies need to do a bit more homework. https://45-sleeves.com/USA/goldwax/gold-us.htm
  3. The scan for 113 is the type of font R&B Indies has for the releases 108 - 112 so they have some wrong info from somewhere. I think you have all the variants though showing??? Someone will correct me if wrong somewhere.
  4. The design on this release, curved with the disc is from the 300 series and began in 1966. The Veltones Tony mentions is 301, the Ovations was the first on this design according to R&B Indies, 300 "Don't Cry". Initially distributed by London (1st release only 910 William Wigfall & The Lyrics)) but quickly moved to Tollie/Vee Jay for all the releases 101 - 120. According to R&B Indies 4 designs before the 300 series, all variants of a block type font...clearly wrong though. 901 101 - 107 108 - 112 113 -120 300 series blue styrene
  5. It is obvious Spike isn't talking about the same type of disco as being discussed in the other topic. I'm sure there is another topic on here where "The best disco in the world" was discussed at length. it was said there was no trophy or presentation, just some comment in Billboard and carried on in B&S.
  6. Nice post Dave, good to get the history of something told as it was/is. Is the Winsford anniversary 45 a boot as well? Did they get proper licensing?
  7. Think a few memories suffering the same Steve
  8. Here is a previous topic where Dave and John Manship explain more about the original acetates.
  9. The Four Temples was wrongly credited as the act that recorded this track on the CD. Don't know where Goldmine got their info from but it was wrong, think Tim said Four Temples was written on a tape box or something like. Pretty sure in the interview with BobA they confirmed they were never known or recorded as the Four Temples.
  10. Linda & Pretenders was covered up as Frankie and the Classicals by Guy.
  11. No worries Bob, I was confused by your confusion
  12. That scan is the one that went through eBay I think and believe to be a fake. Sure Dave Thorley said it isn't like the labels on his acetates and sure the originals are credited to the Ringleaders. Both ten inch the ones through JM Simon.
  13. What confusing Bob? Steve said it was an actual first press not a bootleg, I simply said it was most definately a bootleg as done without permission. What is confusing about that?
  14. I only know of the two acetates that now live with Butch, the titles which Garth mentions. Didn't they live with a Cambridgeshire/east of England collector for many years before JM auctioned them?
  15. As well as showing Robb the boot, you said not really a bootleg but actually a first press. It is 100% a bootleg. I was simply wondering why you would say that?
  16. Is that justification/an excuse for playing it? It was done without permission so it is most definitely a bootleg.
  17. The Teardrops is The Teardrops, unreleased track included on the flip to the Chubby Checker "You can't lose something you never had" anniversary 45 6t9.
  18. Chalky replied to Barry's topic in Look At Your Box
I think you will find that comment was made with tongue firmly in cheek if you knew me you'd know that
  19. Spyder Turner, Pat Lewis And Daryl Grant Live On Stage View full article
  20. Fay Jones has been in touch with news of her forthcoming Souldham 2 on saturday January 12th 2013. The highlight of the night will be the appearance of not one, not two, but three artists should guarantee a packed house. Spyder Turner needs little introduction. His only appearance in this country to date was for a private event. With Northern Soul Classics to his name such as "I'm AlIve With The Loving Feeling", "You're Good Enough For Me", "I Can't Take It No More/Don't Hold Back" and "I've Got To Get Myself Together". His LP "Stand By Me" is a must for all collectors. Famed for his impersonations of other singers he will be one act not to be missed. Pat Lewis is another who needs no introduction to UK Soul music lovers having visited these shores several times. "Warning" , "Let's Go Together", "I Can't Shake It Lose" and the rarity "No One To Love". Lastly Daryl Grant might not be a name familiar with everyone but his CV includes many acts that are more than familiar. Singer Darryl was the lead singer of Fat Larry's band appearing on three of their releases. Darryl has also recorded with The Rolling Stones, Eddie Kendricks, Blue Magic, and Major Harris and had a brief stint with The Natural Four. He is also member of the vocal group Spectrum who's award winning show ran for four years in Las Vegas. Spectrum’s credits include European tours, headlining aboard Royal Caribbean, Princess & Norwegian Cruise Line ships, a Doo-Wop to Soul Review at the Hollywood Palladium, as well as performances with over 40 symphony orchestras throughout North America. Visit Darryl's website: http://www.darrylgrantmusic.webs.com/ As for the rest of the day and night it is a real marathon of soul music in two rooms with 16 hours of music with 24 DJ's from around the country. Main Hall Every genre of Northern Soul to add a touch of fun we have the battle of the DJ's England via Scotland. Expect a few tricks from these DJ's as they battle it out. 21. It was Stafford. Win You Over is on the flip, or was that the second acetate? Anyway both played back then. Butch has the acetates now.
