The Northern Soul Top 500-Definitive Edition. Nov 30Th
It's funny Peter I keep reading "the scene was dead in the 80's" from people I don't remember seeing in venues up and down he country. The scene ws very much alive and thriving in my experience.

The Northern Soul Top 500-Definitive Edition. Nov 30Th
I was doing anything between 2 and 5 venues every weekend, odd one in the week as well. I went to many nighters and soul nights that were rammed. Yes some low on numbers but it hadn't disappeared like some of you seem to think. Many of today spins are 80's discoveries as well. All the DJs had imagination, playing sets they believed in and dancers more than appreciated. The 90's saw the scene go so far backwards it was the 70's all over again and that is where it has stayed with sheep for DJ's with no imagination playing the same few hundred records. If it wasn't for those in the 80's there would have been nothing for the "returnees" to come back to.

Calvin Grayson
it probably did mate but I remember Andy selling one maybe two for around 400 when he was spinning it. £1000 bit steep IMO.

Kin ell, most copies when this was indemand and played by the top DJ's it went for £700/£800 I thought. It wasn't that long ago it was 3/400.

The Northern Soul Top 500-Definitive Edition. Nov 30Th
How many of the 500 Kev are actually new in comparison to the old one? I've no wish to shell out cash just to see the Parliaments, I can see a picture of that and listen to it everyday. Also is there a digital/kindle version?

The Northern Soul Top 500-Definitive Edition. Nov 30Th
I've just asked the same question on FB after posted up there. I have a reply but will wait for Kev's response on here. What I would like to know is who chose the 500. Is it a poll of people choosing their top 500 or your choice Kev? Also is there a kindle version?

Soul Patrol-Nol/syr-A Definite Answer?
I don't recall seeing many if any highland releases with different style between demo and issue, just this one off top of my head. I know Highland used whatever company was the cheapest at the time, or whatever their budget would stretch too, for each issue. This numbering is odd on his issue, nothing like the other releases (the numbering system is all over the place anyway). Many releases were simply leased by Highland rather than recorded by the company.

Soul Patrol-Nol/syr-A Definite Answer?
I read that as the matrix numbers for the one on the right as you were talking about that one So the matrix/delta details for the demo read S-100-X-X-REPL MR delta 87770 S-101-X MR - delta 87770 Dating that one at April/May 1972. Anyone with matrix details of the two issues?

Sellers. Vendors
There's good and bad sellers everywhere. I always ask if unsure. There was a link to a list on here the other day, how accurate is anyones guess. Don't think you should put the/any list up on here though.

Soul Patrol-Nol/syr-A Definite Answer?
I agree about the bubbling, can occur on any 45 but with this one it always seems to be on the one on the right, the first two that have the same typeface always seem to be fine. Plus the first two are the same layout as most Highland releases whereas the one on the right differs. Like we say need the matrix/delta details for all three.

Darrow Fletcher Live at The Wilton Soulful Session
I filmed the Wilton Session of Darrow. If anyone would like a copy can you PM me and let me know so I can get some idea of the number of mailers and cases I need to buy. It will probably be around a tenner plus P&P. I will also do DVD's of the recording studio recordings. Monies raised will go to Darrow.

Rueben Howell You Can't Stop A Man In Love

Thee should be a topic on here somewhere, think it is Rob Wigley who said who it was.- Old Butch C/up
Tommy Smith. There's a couple I think Pete, at least. The seller was from france and he sold two. Mick H spun this at lifeline about 5 years ago but another mate had it for something like ten years and played it covered up as Gary Hymms, he got it from a guy in the States as far as I know. This is the scan from ebay that you mention.- Trendy 'funky Stuff' Versus The Mighty Sixties Beat Ballad

Most I've seen seem to have that bubble under the label as well but that matrix puts it at April/May 1972. The first two, demo and issue with matching fonts match many other Highland releases. Anyone have the delta numbers/matrix of the demo and issue with same font?- Soul Patrol-Nol/syr-A Definite Answer?
It was said the repress was the one on the bottom with the label not stuck on properly and a different font. Like Dave I would have thought this was the repress and the two with same type face were the first, the top two.- Trendy 'funky Stuff' Versus The Mighty Sixties Beat Ballad
Mid-tempo if you ask me. Great underplayed record mind. Last one I remember giving it any serious spins was Steve Smith Bretby era.- Whats It All About?
