I agree Marc, artists do forget and I've had artists tell me they couldn't remember certain songs being recorded or released. Don Gardner couldn't remember nothing when we first talked to him But both Jack Ashford and Lorraine seem to have all their marbles so no real reason to doubt anything they say. It is ok for some to say put up or shut up but maybe they should provided the evidence top prove Jack Ashford wrong? As far as I am concerned they are boots apart from the one that a deal was done for.

Why do you find them tedious? They gave an opinion. If Jack Ashford says they were done without permission that is good enough for me and others as well it would seem.

Brilliant show, one of the best live acts I've seen. Can only reiterate what Steve said, those seeing him tonight in Manchester and Glasgow on Friday are in for a treat. The warm up act, Dirty Velvet were bloody good as well and one worth looking out for. They are a Leeds band and are on the usual social networks, check them out. Photos and videos later.

CD dropped throughout the letter box Monday I think. First chance to listen today and goth say it's fantastic. A great mix of funk and soul.

I guess no one was gonna check details like licensing back then. If registered back then, most in authority would assume legally done so. I guess most if really into original vinyl when DJing will have to change their thinking with Googa Mooga now, or at least three of the releases.

I said it earlier that the way forward will be the mod type venues the likes of Callum and the Beat Boutique boys promote. The music is fresh, or fresher than many oldies nights, there is no baggage unlike the northern scene which is by and large stale and stuck in Wigan and with all the baggage that goes with it.

That will probably be where the direction of the scene goes in the future when the old un's have disappeared, more mod, R&B and other genres that many kids today enjoy. It will be mostly in pockets rather than nationwide IMO, City Centre venues especially those with a large Student population. Who knows though there might be a full Northern Soul revival/re-discovery in 20 years time when there is no one left from the original scene to tell them all what they are doing wrong, what they can collect and what format and how to dance and behave at a venue!!
