  1. I'll double check but I think that's about it from Kell's 60's output, just the tater Pie missing but I don't have that disc. If you want to know more you can read Kell's story at https://www.soulunderground.co.uk/Soul_Underground/The_Kell_Osborne_Story.html I'll post the disc from the 80's little later, just need to find it.
  2. well it would be walking into one of those chalets now, they haven't changed since then
  3. aye but 1970 was 40 years ago
  4. No I don't mind. Those chalets probably haven't been touched by a decorator or refurbished since those days either. Maybe if they were a bit more modern with clean weather proof accomadation, not the grotty, damp bug infested chalets you get now, then maybe people would be prepared to holiday here? Would you take kids there now if they were ten/eleven twelve years old? I wouldn't!
  5. Kell Osborne - You Can't Outsmart A Woman - Loma
  6. The gay bar was below the Conservative Club I think, down a side street near the County Hotel on Saltergate. Jarvis Ellis, knew his brother who did the doors in Chesterfield. Was talking to Will Palmer other day and Jarvis name cropped up, he's still about places in town. I've been Blessed, I used to spin at that time, red vinyl it was too.
  7. Got to agree Keith, even the top notch ones aren't that great. Prestatyn for instance is a sh*t hole, is there any wonder nobody wants to take the family there? You've got to be off your head to stop in some of those chalets, especially the cheaper ones.
  8. Kell Osbourne - Small Things - New Bag Clever, fantastic record.
  9. kell Osborne - quicksand - titanic Massive in the 80's. The flip has had plays in later years. kell osborne - lonely boy song - titanic The backing track and backing vocals were laid down elsewhere, Kell simply went into a studio a laid down his vocals.
  10. Tastes change as people mature, we cringe at some of the stuff that was big way back in the day. A lot of stuff was simply over looked because of the volume of soul/northern soul that was out there back in say the 70's. DJ's could afford to be pickier and ignore stuff.
  11. Kell Osborne - Something for the books - Cenco & Revis Now this was also release on Revis by Billy Revis, Kell's at the time best mate. It was also released on Rayco but Billy Revis changed Kell's name to Ozzie, this was while Kell was serving in the forces.
  12. Kell Osborne - Bells Of St Marys - Trey Early Phil Specter. Later recorded by Bobby Sheen , Bobby B Soxx & Blue Jean, a more up-tempo version though.
  13. who says they are all out of soul bowl packs Have you been to places like Lifeline? Plenty of other venues trying to introduce newer discoveries that are quality and not ex soul pack stuff, IMHO! Another oldies vs. newies topic on it's way

can't remember, sold mine in mid 90's. The sound file above is I think taken from my old copy.
  17. Lucy actually gave a good talk IMO. Her paper was based on research and what you see is the research, actual comments from soulies etc.

It would have been Pat Brady that played it back then btw.
  19. The last one I actually saw sell in the flesh was I think £2k.

  22. I've an old list of Andy Dyson's from 1993 with Billy Hambric on at £15. Eddie Whitehead for a fraction of what it is now worth late 80's at 100 Club. Didn't have enough on me and seller wouldn't take deposit etc etc. Can't remember who was selling it.
  23. thanks Gary Mate, and Dave Abbott, al sorted now
  24. Bub was one of the greatest characters, always had a smile on his face regardless how he felt inside. Always had a joke and a funny story. He was funnier than most comedians, certainly today's lot. Tuesday nights at tracky were great nights with Bub holding court having us all in stitches for the whole night. R.I.P.
  25. Yep deffo add Ozzie to the list, was just a quick reply from me earlier in the day in-between work things. Nighters don't seem the same without any of those I mentioned
