User names or handles as you call them are used on all auction sites so why single one out? And Ruby Andrews £125 real price I'd have said £30 is a more realistic price- The Worst Floor Filler?
Vanguards which one? Good Times is superb...overplayed maybe but pure class, great vocals.- The Worst Floor Filler?
Who said rare makes it a good record? I hear many records played cause of the rarity rather than the quality. I push the cheaper underplayed as much as anyone. Neither did I say the Antellects is good,. I said it's far from the worst record on the scene and cannot understand why it gets so much stick when you consider some of the dross played. If one came along cheap I take it you wouldn't be interested- The Worst Floor Filler?
- Billy Hambric She Said Goodbye Drum
what do you call a decent sensible price?- Past, Present & Future
There may be plenty of nighters but the hardcore who go week in week out is probably 300 and the youngsters just aren't there in sufficient numbers to sustain it long term. Plenty of nighters really no better than local soul nites when it comes to the music policy As for experience (and knowledge), when we were nineteen we had to work to gain that knowledge and subsequently experience, nowadays it's handed on a plate to many simply by switching on a pc- The Worst Floor Filler?
Nothing at all Brian- Past, Present & Future
There's no wonder the scene is slowly dying, especially the all-nighter scene when all you have to do is switch on your computer and get practically any record you wish to hear..apart from the likes of the top collectors/Dj's that is. You then have people with more money than sense paying way over the odds for not so rare records because they are indemand and guaranteed to fill the floor.......... How about this for a line up- Past, Present & Future
The all-nighter scene to me was and still is about going out to hear records you can't hear sat at home in your armchair. If you wanna hear it get to Middleton- Jw If You Ask Me Question
Here's the 1973 reissue..... Whichever issue, it's got to be one of the all time great Northern Soul records- The Worst Floor Filler?
a minority of two then- Past, Present & Future
Personaly preferred it back then cause regardless who was DJing and how they got there the music was fresh and varied. If today like you say anybody can get the tunes why then do many all buy and play the same records- Past, Present & Future
- Past, Present & Future
Don't get me wrong, far from underestimate them, they really do know their stuff, they've been collecting soul as long as we have.....however...they aren't over here and that was my point, hardly a threat to the UK Dj's. In the 80's there was several DJ's with quality sets, Keb, Guy, Pat, Gary Rushbrook, Rob Marriott, Kitch, Jimmy Wensiora, Adam, Dave Thorley, Robin Salter, Ion..several from over the Border in Scotland etc etc. Most DJ's had individual sets and their own style, unlike today. Just wish todays DJ's had the same philosopy instead of many playing the same stuff- Jw If You Ask Me Question
it's definately a different mix, i'll have to listen to both to remind me.- Past, Present & Future
Japan...aren't they a bit far off to worry the UK Dj's? Besides there are plenty over here who really know their stuff Butch has always been the best 60's DJ for me and he's probably got better 70's/crossover and maybe funk than most. Pat Brady in the 80's had a set to rival anyones. As for future I can't see anyone with the quality records to worry the likes of Butch or Andy Dyson. If those two packed in the newies scene would be basically done with as IMHO they are the only two to keep finding quality unknowns. They also have the contacts no one else has.- Jw If You Ask Me Question
second issue (1973) has longer break- Jw If You Ask Me Question
I agree but see it regular for anything between £100 and £150. Could say the same about many records Pete.- The Worst Floor Filler?
Every copy (IMHO ) should be taken, along with Dean Barlow, up two flights, go along to the third window from the right, open it and throw the lot out the f*****- The Worst Floor Filler?
Maybe but I hate the record- The Worst Floor Filler?
agree with you Mace (for once ) add Larry trider, Dean Barlow and Oxford Nights to the list - News:Manship auction process exposed
