Thanks Arthur / Simon...Blimey, not a bad buy at £30 ten years ago then! Do you know if Mixed Feelings did anything else, other than the B side of course. Have heard lots of amazing 70's soul and pretty sure I've only scratched the surface, but this would have to be up there as one of the best to my ears & feet. Criminal if the band didn't record anything else back then, whether under name of Mixed Feelings or otherwise. Also guessing there would be more of the light blue label issues of this 45 than demos, or by the look of things, maybe t'other way round?

Not surprised to see no bids at such high starting price + time of year etc. Just out of interest, anyone know where it was played first in UK and by whom..I'm guessing Soul Sam?, which is I think how I first heard it. Course...anyone on the planet with a computer can hear the A side now, which in some ways is good but also really not good in other ways (different thread been done to death I know!).

Worth every dollar I think. One of those sure fire absolute quality "lose yourself in the moment" records in my opinion, both sides so different and so good. Never ceases to amaze me how a group like that could only have one record like this released (unless anyone knows any different?). Noticed JM's latest guide has marked the price down from 5th edition but still have not seen too many cropping up of late.

Have voted Barry but maybe would've been good to see an option on the last Q that I'm sure applies to more than just me "best now / best yet to come". Actually, I retract that as it's FAR too positive for SoulSource

They look very similar to Swan and at first glance could be a bonus if you can stack a few on top of each other, which you can't do with the Swan cases if they're the same size (but they are very good I think and still worth a bit extra).

Also, is it me or is there also a sort of "Northern Soul Stare" that some people do when we do get lost (in a good way) when dancing. I think when I first had one aimed squarely at me in the middle of a busy dance floor I thought I was in for more than just a dance war

I think you need to post a clip of you dancin in your kitchen to show the viewers what you mean Barry..I don't know what you mean by "younger people" but I think I just about fall into that category based on your other recent survey and I think I know the "move" you're talking about. I guess these things just evolve and change through a night (depending on records / alcohol &/or other intake, tiredness etc). I like to think I'm reasonably fit but even my knees sometimes give me grief the morning after a soul night...which lets face it can probably equate to running a good half Marathon or more if you think of a long night and if the music and mood keep you on the floor and away from the door. Go anywhere other than a Northern soul night and there basically is NO real dancing from what I can see, so let's thank ourselves lucky we have the best nights to go to hey, even if some leg moves are a bit dodgy PS..."Dad Dancing" is the way to go

No point cutting onto a record when a CD is okay and proper..You'll be pleased to hear that CD players will be set up alongside the decks at Snooks going forwards, so that tracks like this can be enjoyed as they should be.

Sounds like that was a top night and certainly fits with the "rare mcneir" title of this thread Barry. As for getting your recording on to the web, I wouldn't know where to start other than first recording it on to CD using a CD recorder, or straight to MP3 using some other software or something. Maybe Chalky can help?

Over the weekend I was going through some CD's which I picked up in the early to mid 90's and had completely forgotten about this gem of a compilation released in 1995 by "about time" and including sleeve notes by Bob Jones. Some great tracks on there, not least includes both sides of the superb 45 which Ronnie released on Tortoise International in '78 ("A Different Kind of Love" and "The Good Side Of Your Love") as well as what I think are some previously unreleased tracks from that Don Davis produced session of the same period. I particularly like this first track on the CD called "Baby I know" and I can't see it being released on any other format than this compilation CD, but wondered if anyone else knew anything more about it + general thoughts on the track or on the great man himself. Have tried searching for more info but can't seem to find a former thread. Maybe there is and someone can steer me to it. Cheers, Steve

Love it! One of the first Brunswick 45's I purchased and great value double sider. Used to be played locally here at the end of a night (Rushden, Northants) but not heard it out for ages. I'll maybe have to put in a request this coming Saturday

Didn't realise this was also on a UK 45. Have seen the Spanish 45 now and then and have been enjoying it on the LP for a good few years (along with the gorgeous "When you left, heartaches began"). Not sure if this is of interest to anyone who loves the record and didn't see the thread back in March.... Cheers, Steve.

Yes that's how I first heard it Ian...I must have been the person who bought one while you kept the other copy! Joking apart, it was comps like that and ALL the Mastercuts (yep, I have them all) and in particular the "Rare" series + others like them by Expansion (SoulChasers etc) with many other late 80's / early 90's releases that got me started on buying older records in original format that were before my time, so to speak...Leon Ware LP was one of the first from memory with "Why I came to California" (which I might not have heard were it not for the Mastercuts comps) + Bobby Womack Poet 1 & 2 for example. I think the point I'm making is that having an appreciation for soul (and other music) in all its formats, genres and tempos...60's to current releases... is healthy and bit more enjoyable. Expensive at times too mind! I know less about music each day as just so much out there and expanding faster than the universe!..Well it feels like that sometimes!!! What was this thread about again? Great...Not seen that Chuck Stanley LP cover for a few years! If this is moving away from the NJS and Street Soul topic and more to contemporary soul then we could be a here a long time as I think there was a lot of quality about...Sounds of Blackness, Broomfield (Don't cover up your feelings etc LP), all Tashan LP's, even Najee to a degree! Anita Baker, Atlantic Starr, By All Means, heaps of stuff from Expansion etc, Kashif, Juicy (After loving you / private party etc), Maze. It's certainly the time I started buying records regularly in late teens and actually listening more. A good foundation to then discover the rest of the soul spectrum methinks

They're not doing anything new these days then? Good to see Drizabone still going...Nataya is doing a night locally here in Rushden, Northants in a few weeks, so that should be good. Actually, not sure I should have mentioned that as maybe moonlighting away from the band!
